UCSC Film Major?

Can anyone tell me about the film major? I'm a transfer student who has been accepted as "Proposed film." I want to focus on production. Here are the things I ALREADY KNOW:

1) I have to apply to Production after taking several pre-reqs. It's strongly urged that I take one this summer. If i do not, it will delay my graduation.
2) I may not get accepted to Production, as it is a highly competitive program. If I do not get accepted to production, I can choose another emphasis or get a general "Film" education with theory mixed into it.
3) It is a hands on program, unlike many other undergrad programs.

I already know all of those things (from the SlugFilm website) so if possible please don't just re-iterate those statements. Here are the things I really want to know:

1) What kind of equipment do they have? Their website just lists a still camera and a webcam as their cameras. This can't be all.

2) How are the teachers? (I know this will be opinion, and I'm okay with that). Are they working in the industry currently? How is faculty morale in general?

3) Does the student body seem happy/successful/confident, or is it a group of angry UCLA rejects that hate their school and their life because they didn't get into UCLA?

4) Should I pick this school over CSUN or CSULB because it's a UC, even though both of those CSUs have better known film programs?

5) Do you recommend this program overall? (Opinions are great, especially if you or a friend have been to this school for this major).

Thanks so much!!!
