UCSC/TAG/withdrawal Question

I’m applying for my TAG to UC Santa Cruz but I want to withdraw from my Calculus II class. I just don’t believe I can do well in this class under my current circumstances.

This class is my last prerequisite for my major which is Environmental Studies and Economics combined. This will also make me a part time student, dropping my number of units from 13 to 10. Of course, I plan on retaking my Calculus class in spring semester.

Anyway, will receiving a W this semester negatively effect my TAG? Thank you

You need full-time enrollment. You can still enroll in late start or quarter system classes that have not yet started; check Foothill College, De Anza, or Lake Tahoe CC for online classes and take an online class that you’re interested in (if you’re far from there - online is just more convenient). That way, you’ll at least have full-time enrollment, so your TAG will not be voided. Again, you NEED a minimum of 12 semester units to be considered a full-time student - if you don’t have this, your TAG will be voided.

UC’s don’t care about W’s - but yes, take the class during the spring. Make sure that UCSC doesn’t have any requirements about fulfilling major prerequisites before the end of the Fall term (I think they don’t, but you should check).

@goldencub Just talked to my transfer counselor at Santa Barbara City College and was told there is no credit requirement for UC Santa Cruz.

Only Davis requires full time

According to the TAG matrix, Davis is the only UC that says they would really prefer it if you were full-time, but if not, you’ll have to give a reason. The rest of the UC’s don’t require you to be full-time in order to qualify for a TAG.

Yes, only Davis requires FT unless you have a super-good excuse (still to be determined).

Mention in your additional comments a reason you dropped it that doesn’t make it sound like you were floundering.

Nevermind!
