UCSD appeal

EAOP is big with UCs. So is the Cal State program (forgot the name). SAT won't help.

coolman: By all means do appeal if you want to; however, the process is long and certainly far from being easy. But the fact that you are willing to channel this rejection into a positive reveals a better attitude. I hope I am wrong with appeals and you do get to go to a school of your choice.

Thank you eiffel, i'll do my best.

By the way, would you happen to know if ROP (Regional Occupational Program) counts as one of those "enrichment" programs?

Yah coolman thanks a lot man!
I took ROP classes too, does that count? and i did more 200+ hours of community service...and it doesnt say on the application... will they consider my appeal? I Also have many A-G classes that i did not put on my grade sheet on the UC applicatioin becuase there wasnt a space for it...

Coolman so i have to call and discuss with an admissions officer?

Thanks for the reply guys!!

which ROP classes?

i took electronics tech

also i didnt put my parent's income, but it's less than $60k, so do i have an appeal that will affect my decision?

Homiebo: Your grounds for appeal would be thrown out. The fact that you have ROP will not be a huge factor considering they already have reviewed your application already with the financial factor. They use a scoring system.

However, if you are compelled to appeal it, then do so; just be aware that the process is lengthy and favors those applicants with very significant new information.

No i just don't have ROP, i have 3 years of mandarin which i got an A in, and my family income is not specified in my "UC Application" and i have 100+ service hours which was not indicated anywhere on my UC application

Thanks for replying.

In your UC application, there is a spot where you place your parent's income.

Why did you not place this 100 + service hours? Was this done after you filed your application?

Great, you have 3 years of Mandarin. Where was this on your application?

Anything significant though? All those things were not disclosed to them (if you knew before you filed the application).

Significant usually means a HUGE thing. Out of this world! Like you have just published new research; went to Botswana to help enocourage contraceptives...

No i didnt put any of that in my UC app, but considering the UCSD application scoring, i would get a lot of points off of that. Yes i did all that BEFORE i filed my application

I have three semesters of Advanced Web Design ROP which is related to the major I applied for, Computer Engineering. I also have uh... two semesters of Culinary Arts ROP (lol) and 1 semester of SAT prep.

But yeah, they're weak grounds.

Three years of mandarin eh? I have eleven years. I graduated from Irvine Chinese School my junior year. Didn't do me much good, i wrote it as one of my ECs.

haha i TOok chinese school too. i Didn't indicate mandarin anywhere on my apps

ROP is really easy to complete and isn't considered enrichment......admission officers don't take it as high regards....

Going to community colleges to take some college classes or enrolling into COSMOS or AVID would be considered "enrichment"

For the appeals on financial issue, if your parents make less than 60,000 ..... that doesn't give you 300 points.... there is no need to appeal your application due to financial reasons UNLESS you parents make less than $30,000 a yr.....

ROP at my high school are offered as make up classes for students who don't have enough credits to graduate high school.........

100 + service hours will not have a huge impact on UCSD admission officers.... I seen many students that are involved in their school sports for 4 years.... 1 semester alone is 367 hours (mutiple that by 8)....

I volunteered at the hospital last summer and was able to get 100 hours in 4 weeks....
