Well are decisions are out, I am content and grateful to the colleges I have got into. But, SD was my dream school and I feel like I should at least try to get in. I do have new and compelling information, but I am going to go call them again and see it is enough for an appeal.

Any one else appealing? Any helpfully information?

definitely call. I was talking to my counselor today and turns out you can call the school and ask them where you fell short on your application. that way, you can tailor your appeal to what you need. not many people know this when doing the appeals process and every person who has called, asked what went wrong, and remedied the problem in their appeal has gotten in from my high school.

Yes I did like 2 weeks ago and they gave this:

They give me all their admissions stats and stuff and how they had to turn down good students, etc… Then for my application, I was at like 7595, the cut off was like 7744. I got points for my GPA, SAT’s, some summer stuff, some leader ship, some special stuff. I don’t think they gave FULL points in the EC categories such as special, summer, cs, etc… I think I got a little of each which is what held me back. But the guy said, looking up and down, the GPA was the biggest factor holding me back… (■■■). He also said Major did not matter and the decisions were independent of all UC’s, so CC was right on that.

So, anyway, with that point total, did I even have a realistic chance? I knew my GPA was going to screw me over. That was the easiest to control… =(

Anyway…

What are the chances of appeals going through? How do I even appeal, I cant find the site?

Also, are you serious, no one else is appealing…

Well with the economical cut-backs we are having that is affecting schools everywhere, the universities have to cut down on who to admit (because of funding and cutting back on classes) and the chances of appeals working are slim. It is worth a try though. It is your dream school after all!

maybe i should appeal if i dont get in on waitlist, i called and i got 7708 points out of 7744, thats a 36 point difference. i used the website to do the math and i got

4180 for gpa, 2260 for sat1, 750 for sat2. that comes at 7196. the admissions officer gave me full points on special talents, and only partial point on community service/extra a-g courses.

im just wondering, if im the first in my family to be born here would that have counted for any points?

Well… they are still being reviewed and their is no specific time frame for release and we should just wait. Also, we will receive an official mail.
