I think that my son’s school doesn’t rank their kids really hurts them, as he had to say No to the 'are you in top 10% at your school '. There are so many applicants, there is no way every single application got looked at. I bet the first screen was through a computer preset parameters. Comparing kids on their GPA are really not fair, as it depends on classes they took and also which schools they were in. Some schools are lot more easy to get As than other schools.

Good luck to all the Californians waiting to hear back! Technically, we only have one day left to wait. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. If ucsd wants us- yay! They are the lucky ones!
If ucsd doesn’t accept us- they are missing out big time!
don’t count on it, most likely there ain’t any more spots left especially for in-state, each of us should prepare to go to another school at this point.

But they have yet to close their waitlist like UCI did, so maybe they will release a wave of admissions on the last day rather than just closing it? Don’t lose all hope, but be prepared
of course they will close the waitlist sooner or later, but more like a wave of rejects, not a wave of admissions in the end.
Hey guys, did anyone IN STATE hear back from UCSD so far? They said no later than June 1, and my portal is still saying “waitlist confirmation”… At this point, I don’t care whether they take me or not, I just want the wait to be over. I’ve learned the waitlist process is definitely one of the worst things about college. You hope and wait for months after already waiting months for regular decisions and never hear anything back until the very last moment. Not cool

Portal was updated. Used to be “after May first and as late as June 1st”
Now this is what it says-

You have opted in to the UC San Diego freshman waitlist. Because you were given the waitlist option, we know that you are an outstanding student, one who we would like to offer admission if additional space becomes available. Please be patient, as this process may take some time. We will notify remaining students on the waitlist about their waitlist status the first week of June.

Oh my dad just called them and they said at least 2 weeks. Hopefully they’ll tell us by the first day of school
The portal message changed to: “We will notify remaining students on the waitlist about their waitlist status the first week of June.”. The first week of June is just this week, if my guess is correct.
Can someone quickly call The admissions office or the portal is correct on the date? They need to set an official date 
These colleges can do whatever they want man there’s nothing we can do
I called admission today. They won’t commit to a decision date. Vaguely said within the next 2 weeks but won’t commit since they already missed their by June 1st deadline. Counselor said they are reviewing application so there is still hope
I’m extremely angry at this whole situation… They tell us May 1st no later to June 1st and now it’s about to go on for another week and it’s not even sure they’ll give us an answer by then. I feel like these colleges give absolutely zero or very little respect to waitlisted students. It’s outrageous and there’s nothing we can do. We just sit and wait like we’ve been doing for months I guess.
