Sorry for butting in late. I just called admissions and the lady on the phone said they may be done with admissions. Hopefully three is still some room for some of us. Best of luck to you all.
I really hope you mean “there”, not “three” LOL
Oh. Sorry I’m using drag typing. I meant there
Just curious. Who here is in state?
I’m in-state
uc berkeley
I just checked and it says I was denied is it like this for anybody else?
^^ Yep didn’t get off the WL. Just as expected! So glad it’s finally over because I just wanted an answer ASAP. Good luck to everyone else in their future college/life!
Yeah, me too. At least they kept their decision within the first week of June, like promised.
Denied as well, I wonder if anyone did get accepted instate from waitlist…
Yes, the waiting is finally over. It said “enrollment goals for 2017-18 have been met; therefore, we are unable to offer admission from the waitlist”. Anyone instate got admission from the waitlist?
The wait is over but the results are disappointing, especially for in-state students since it appears that no-wait listed student was admitted off the wait list. For us this is the second time this scenario happened. Our son was eventually denied off the wait list in 2013, now our daughter, despite having a 4.18 GPA and scoring 33 on the ACT. She will go to SDSU since she wanted to stay local and has received a generous scholarship from there. Go Aztecs! Boo Tritons!
@longwait2 …I totally feel you. My son has an UW GPA of 4.58 , ACT of 34 and also a national merit finalist. Well, I guess UCSD doesn’t deserve to have our kids there. Wish your daughter and son the best of everything!!
The only thing to do now is live our college years and make UCSD regret not accepting us!
This is somewhat surprising. Last years many in state kids got off WL in the first week or two. I’d think with the new CSE transfer policy fewer UD kids would SIR and so free up space for WL. It’s possible that UCSD is trying to handle over enrollment/large class size issue which has caused its ranking dropped (among other negatives from it) in the past few years.
Life goes on, good luck folks on your different colleges! I’m signing off from this waitlist board.
Thanks Mamimami. Your son had amazing stats. Makes you wonder about this all selection process and why some students gets in and others don’t. Where is your son going in the end?
@longwait2 … the whole selection process for UCs is indeed very discouraging. My son’s major is EE and got accepted to some very good schoolsS , but they are all out of states … u of Illinois- Urbana & champaign, UT Austin, and get full tuition scholarship at Texas A&m. We are middle income family and received 0 financial aid, so going out of states or private college is out of the question . Daddy really hoping he will go to Texas A&m. Unfortunately they are not very diversify in terms of student dermographics, and that is something my son feels very important with (I think living LA is quite different than many other cities ). He will be going to UCSB… at least he is staying closer to home that makes me happy.
Again, wish all of you here the best in your college life wherever you will be.
@longwait2 … btw, I learned lately that UCs admissions are comparing kids’ stats within their own HS. My son is in s very competitive HS. Even with his GPAs, he probably not called considered to be on top 10 ranking in his school (his school doesn’t do ranking on their kids). I think this is the main killer point for him. All I have to say is I don’t think the whole selection process is very fair. Your daughter may be in the same situation as my son. Whatever it is, i m glad this is over.
