Should I avoid UCSD if I get accepted to Revelle?
People are making it sound just awful
my major is Economics and I picked Revelle #1 without prior research and Muir #2
so I'm hoping to God I make it out. Will my major influence this at all?

Any words of wisdom of prospective/current students of UCSD

Yeah I’ve heard Revelle is pretty intense and only for the most serious. Most I hear are pre-meds in Revelle.

Do you know if we can switch our ranking preferences on the January update?

Yes avoid Revelle if you are an economics major! Unless you just love school and want to take a bunch of unecessary classes. Revelle and Eleanor Roosevelt do not accept IGETC as a completion of all lower division ge requirements. The other four colleges do. If you complete IGETC you will not have to take any lower division ge’s at Marshall, Muir, Warren, or Sixth. At Revelle and Roosevelt you will have to take additional lower division classes to fulfill their requirements. As an econ major its a watse of time.

I currently attend UCSD’s Marshall college as an econ major, and its awesome. I was able to just jump in to my upper division classes and didnt have to worry about lower division stuff. Hopefully you dont get put in Revelle.

By the way, the app update does not let you switch college preference. However, alot of people dont get into their first choice college, so you might be okay.

lucky me, i put revelle last =)

i hope i don’t get roosevelt, i think i put that as my third choice, that would suckkk, i didnt know that about IGETC

…does anyone know which colleges are the best (ge-wise) for ENGINEERING majors? I cannot seem to figure out the whole “lower division GE” requirement thing for the colleges. IGETC is not recommended for Engineering (and so I will not have completed it) Thanks!

its genereally accepted that Muir and Marshall are the “best” colleges to be in.

CalBearGuy, thanks for the info!

no problem victor5555, goodluck!
