Soooo...after we get accepted to UCSD, does anyone know when we will get our ucsd.edu email accounts???

I’ll ask this question here since it never got answered in the UCSD thread:

Does anyone know how they assign the @ucsd.edu email address? I have a very long, confusing, hyphenated last name and I would hate it to be, for example, astudentowski-espanol@ucsd.edu. I’d rather just have it my first, middle and two last name initials i.e. asln@ucsd.edu.

I just checked a few of my friends UCSD email addresses and they are all different… one of my friends has their first letter of their first name and their full last name @ucsd.edu (his name is short). Another person has just the initials of their first middle and last name @ucsd.edu. And I just found another one with their first letter of their first name and only part of their last name (because I their last name is too long). So, I am not sure if they will let us pick our email addresses, but I am pretty sure they wouldn’t put your very long and hyphenated last name. Hope this helps :)

Sweet. Short and simple, please! Thanks :)

Approximately June would be my guess. Because that’s after the SIR deadline so if you’re SIR’ed after that, you’re probably going and that’s after all the other decisions are finalized. Most importantly, that’s around the time your undergraduate college sends you orientation information. That’s what it says on the admissions page.

I’m going to make my email address “the.late.great.lord.sonny@ucsd.edu” if possible.

They probably won’t let me :(

I want “jho@ucsd.edu”. The odds of me getting it are astronomical.
