Will UCSD transfers get to choose their own e-mail account name?

Or is it mandatorily chosen for us in the form of our FirstNameInitial+LastName@ucsd.edu?

Chosen based on name. Mines first initial, middle initial, last name.

Mine was auto-assigned as first initial, last name.

Thanks guys; Rooble how do you have your e-mail account already – are you like Grimes doing summer session too? I was under the impression that non-summer_school students receive their e-mail account no earlier than mid-June.

I am not doing the summer session. Got curious last week so I went here https://sdacs.ucsd.edu/~icc/index.php</a> and it let me make one so I did :)

Yeah Oliver_Twist I got mine before even registering for summer session.

anyone know what happens if you have the same identitcal name as another student?
so lets say my name is DOEMIDDLEJOHN there’s another guy with the exact name, do they get a DOEMIDDLEJOHN2? lol

just got this through my ucsd email-

pretty crazy

@Ryan2136: They usually add random numbers after the last name in that case. So, for example, it would be dsmith872@ucsd.edu.

The suspect is light skinned, with wavy brown hair, approximately 5’9", medium build and was wearing blue jeans.

how obscure can those details be? “light skinned”? lightskinned asian? black? white? latino?

@grimes thnx, was just curious haha
