UCSD FALL 2016 TRANSFER THREAD

@frozendodo24 , either way, you’ll find out tomorrow.

But I’d bet against you.

@solostish Thanks for the input. If I’m wait listed I’ll be content

@boyofrito math is now impacted https://www.math.ucsd.edu/programs/undergraduate/Entry_to_the_Math_Majors.pdf

@BevIvyPark The admissions decisions are all released at once. But the process is as follows:

  1. UCSD admissions accepts you to the university
  2. you are assigned to an undergraduate college eg Revelle
  3. the department you applied to reviews your application (and if you applied to engineering or another impacted field, may reject you) (if rejected you are assigned your second choice major or Undeclared status)

would they notify your acceptance online first or would you get a letter in the mail first?

Hey guys! Is UCSD sending out decisions tonight?

@Hikachu21 Check your portal. That’s where it will be first.
@itzidlt They will be sending it out today!

Hey does anyone know is UCSD is super boring? I have heard a lot of speculation and want to see your take on it

@TransferJ ive heard it called UC Socially Dead, but from what I’ve heard from a friend who went there, its just not like UCSB or SDSU, and probably got the reputation of socially dead because it is being compared to its next door neighbors, SDSU, in which case, yes, its socially dead compared to them :)) But other than that, they do have parties and all of that stuff, but the students are more focused on studies than getting drunk. Berkeley he said would be comparable. But then again, that is only from my source.

aghh, excited for tonight! going to wait to check portal until people start posting on here though, don’t want to keep refreshing, lol.

Oh, and for everyone, from what I read on last year’s thread, if you keep refreshing your page, you might get a weird message, so all you have to do is log out and back in once they release decisions, and it should come back with a different, hopefully more exciting message!

@Hikachu21 I got my acceptance online first. It makes sense because that would be faster to update.

@TransferJ Way back in high school I visited my cousin at UCSD when I came down to SoCal to tour some of the CSU’s I applied for. Fell in love with the setting right there. Got to meet up with his roommates who were all also transfers. The two days I was there we would head out all over SD. Hit some of the local restaurants in downtown la jolla which is only a few mins away, hiked down ho chi minh trail in the middle of the night to the beach, and kicked it with some of the other transfers late at night (most of them are dorming round the same area). These guys are all bio/comp sci majors and so on but had some of the craziest stories after just a few quarters there. Always parties and events going on over the weekends too if that’s more what you’re into. It’s what you make of it. Get a group of good friends going and try to meet people early on. You’ll definitely set yourself up for a good time there.

I’m looking at last year’s thread and the second batch of decisions came out the same day as UCLA and UCD, so could that mean we won’t hear back until next Friday??

@emily2636 Last year they came out Friday April 17th. Ucla came out on the same date

this is a video I found about whether UCSD is socially dead or not

@emily2636 someone spoke to a rep, and they said they are coming out today, so hopefully they are right.

What if i still couldn’t get admission result from UCSD student portal, which means i failed??? :frowning:

We’re hours away from knowing our fate! Anybody else experiencing anxiety? Lol :-SS

@bonjouruc2016 No. I’m super anxiety lol

@bonjouruc2016 so much :frowning:

:-SS
last year, they released decisions at around 4:30 PM, so we have about 3.5 more hours to go :open_mouth:
