I don’t think you can. The admissions office told me that I needed to pick a capped major and a non capped major cause if i don’t get into either they’ll deny me cause they don’t take undeclared
.
Strange because I’ve heard the same as @Princetonian9. Not from UCSD specifically, but UCs in general. I know they want transfers to declare a major so that they can complete the remaining coursework and graduate. Interesting.
But in regards to the original question, I do not believe that UCs will consider you for an Undeclared acceptance unless you declared Undeclared as your original major.
I understand but I just stated again that 4 of my friends were accepted as undeclared even though they Didnt chose it as their major (transfer students.
@loyalfan49 Oh really? That’s interesting! Good to know!
Does anyone know the normal procedure for someone that hasn’t completed all the pre reqs? If I have one left that I haven’t done will they just reject me automatically?
Yes transfers can be accepted as undeclared. I think that was even an option on the application. Like for example undeclared - humanities. Also if someone chooses two capped majors they may be admitted as undeclared because UCSD admits to the school, not by major, no?
@loyalfan49 Hi, I am a transfer from last year. You can get accepted as undeclared if both majors you applied to were capped (ie structural engineering and mechanical engineering) If this happens, you generally have to wait a year to apply to the major you originally wanted as a continuing student, or you can decide to apply to an uncapped major if you don’t want to wait a year.
also speaking from experience, don’t check until around 4pm on the 21st, that is when they released them last year on that friday.
Note: this is from my experience last year, might have changed
@justin7473 thank you for the clarification !
@loyalfan49 @blackonyx I think this year they changed it so you can’t be accepted as undeclared anymore. The website states:
“Transfer applicants will not be admitted as undeclared. If you are not admitted to your major, you will not be admitted to the university.”
@HeardWell they said that last year too(might be wrong). The stats on the website show undeclared people accepted
One more week? X_X
@thinkweism going to be a very long week!
@loyalfan49 I hope undeclared is still an option. Guess all we can do now is wait.
This is going to be the longest wait ever. My mind is going crazy ♪~ ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ
Has anyone ever done summer session at ucsd
Recently just joined this thread…I thought UCSD decisions already came out? I heard back mid-March.
@lostar that was only for non-impacted majors apparently. impacted majors have an expected decisions date of April 21.
I don’t think that’s accurate because I applied to a non-impacted major and haven’t heard anything yet. I know that’s what UCSD said but it seems to be varied.
