Is there anybody who grew up outside of US for an extended period of time (10+ yrs) but is a US citizen?
I guess the disadvantage negates but I grew up in Japan speaking Japanese for 15 yrs. I briefly explained on my personal statement about it but I don’t know if they fully understood my circumstances.
I’m super confused as well. But it seems to be a lot of STEM-dominant majors that are the high GPAs and rejections. Wonder how competitive it was this year? It has to be based on major prep/prereqs, as well as with the others in the pool.
Everyone with 3.0-3.5 GPAs: Don’t sweat it or feel guilty.
@lexluther96 yeah, last year. i was enrolled at UCI but i was unable to attend due to issues with my community college. and the thing is my major doesnt have pre-reqs! i have coursework for 4 different languages, tons of history and anthro courses, basically courses related to my major, and my UC GPA is 3.7, so im pretty bummed. just waiting on yooklah and cal now.
I applied to a seriously non capped major, I dont think a lot of people even know it exists? the acceptance rate for it last year was 52% so im pretty discouraged… i hope i get into UCB or UCLA.
For all those rejected, did you guys finish pre-reqs? I feel that’s important for all transfer applicants, as the UC’s wanna make sure if you transfer to their school, you come in as a solid Junior and can graduate in time.
I think the reason that such high GPA applicants were rejected is that UCSD has taken personal statements and EC’s into consideration more seriously this year?? Which is kind of weird because I got in and my ps were meh (I finished them 10 minutes before the Nov deadline) and I had no EC at all
What the heck, so a school actually sends out all of its acceptances, waitlists, and rejections each on separate days. That really doesn’t sound right to me.
Aerospace engineering with 3.7 gpa, NASA intern, Student government president, all major classes finished. Pretty shocked honestly.
Oh well, they just made the difficult decision between Cal Poly and UCSD that much easier. Cal Poly here I come
The school isn’t sending out notices in separate batches, guys. For example, my friend got rejected at the same time I got accepted last week. You’re only looking at a small number of applicants here.
@MiniGrace11 unfortunately no, I was one prereq short of what they wanted even though I have enough credits to transfer. I guess I should have taken one more class and applied to SDSU as well. Do you know if they only admit transfers in the Fall like UCSD?
