UCSD GPA admit without TAG?

Hello everyone.

Remember last years TAG for UCSD was 3.0? Well now it's 3.5. last year, if you had no TAG and a 3.2, you were pretty much in. What do you guys think the admit gpa would be this year without a TAG? It can't be 3.8 because UCSD's TAG applicants will be less due to the GPA required for TAG approval.

The GPA cut-off for regular admissions is now expected to be around 3.8. [This paper from my school’s transfer center confirms it.](http://i56.■■■■■■■.com/2hdw5g5.jpg)

Oh dude they said the same thing last year. PLENTY of applicants with a 3.2+ were admitted. If that’s the way it is, UCSD will only be accepting about less than 1000 of the 4,000+ applicants. Idk. I’m trying to convince myself that 3.8 is a bogus number. Idk. Thanks though.

3.8 seems really high. I doubt they will receive 9k TAG applications again this year, with the whole tagging to only one school + GPA increase. Especially when you consider that the average gpa of UC applicants has been ~3.3 in recent years. Most people will fall below their 3.5 + completion of math/English by fall 2011 minimum.

I know, right? There are a ton of people with less than 3.5 GPA. My guess would be that a 3.35-3.4 would be a definite admit to an nonimpacted major. 3.8 is too high. Comparing to last years statistics, 3.8 is just a random number.

A 3.8gpa is reasonable to expect for an impacted major through regular admission, but ridiculous for everything else. IMO, If you’ve got a 3.3+ you’ve got a decent shot, may as well apply.

I thought so too! :] I don’t want transfer applicants to worry much. Hopefully this thread helped all the distressed applicants.
