anyone know of any malls, lasertag, shopping areas, eateries, nightlife, etc or just any cool place around ucsd thats a walkable distance or a short ride on bus?

I am not sure how close seaworld is.. but I know it's in sandiego lol.

Haha, SeaWorld is about 10 miles from UCSD..

Now, I don't go yo UCSD (yet), but I live in SD, so here are some cool places near UCSD.
-Downton La Jolla has neat shops and such.. its a short bus ride away (~2mi)
-La Jolla Village Square Mall - shops, theatre, etc - cool place, withing walking dist.
-La Jolla Cinema - plays independent/small films (I saw Riding Giants there - its a surf doc) withing walking dist.
-The BEST Ice-Blocking Hill in all of San Diego (at least that I've found, and not counting golf courses) is a short ways away.. Kate Sessions Mem. Park - just a huge grassy hill.. super fun
-The Torrey Pines Glider Port over the cliffs of Black Beach is a pretty cool spot (excellent pos-Mexican-food chill spot) and is walking distance
-Then of course, La Jolla Cove is cool - park, rocks to sit on over the ocean - I'd say bus on this one.
-I personally enjoy kayaking in the La Jolla caves over near the cove.. plenty of places to rent for good prices.. walk/skateboard distance.
-Its always good fun as well to try to talk yourself into the La Jolla Country Club and use their jaccuzi.. it's a super-rich hotel/club. It's tough to get in, but doable :D
-Then, just several more miles south, down by SeaWorld, is Mission Beach.. which is a very..interesting.. and cool place. Good small places to eat, Belmont Park and the coaster, etc. I'd say about 7mi.
-The Sports arena houses Koby's Swap Meet every weekend - it's an awesome place to go to get stuff that's cheap/weird. It's pretty big, and very fun (at least I like it). ~10miles, South of mission beach
-and, if you want Laser Tag, Ultrazone is San Diego's BEST. ~10miles, near SeaWorld and the Sports Arena.
-Then, ~2miles further south, is Downtown San Diego.. yeah tons of stuff there.

Anyways, I don't claim to know all the cool stuff around UCSD (I expect to discover more myself), but I hope this has helped dispell the myth that there is nothing to do around UCSD. It's not right on the doorstep like say, UCLA, but it's there all right.
