I'm not trying to boast about my acceptance, so please try not to hate me.

I got into both UCSD and UCI but I really do not know which one to choose. I'm looking for a lot of things in a college and I really want your opinions/facts about both of these campuses. I'm looking for the following things from the two colleges, I was wondering if someone could tell me about the following from each.

1) I applied under Chemical Engineer for both campuses, though I might switch to mechanical, still not sure. Nonetheless, I'm going to be an engineer. How is the engineering program at both colleges?

2) How is the campus? I probably will find out myself, but there's a slight chance that I won't be able to travel to San Diego. Is it really beautiful? big?

3) Are there cute asian girls? This may seem like a silly question, but I'm serious. I have a thing for Korean girls lol.... but anyways, I'm really looking to be more social in college and find a nice girl.

So anyways, please make some constructive replies to each and please keep flaming to a minimum. Thanks ^.^

Its nice to see that a fellow Korean is looking for exactly what I'm looking for! (Most korean guys I know don't like korean girls for some reason) UCSD has plenty of korean girls. But probably not as much as in Irvine.
I would choose UCSD if I were you since Irvine is not as academically great and SD has this great vibe to it. I don't really know why but I love the campus. Sure, its rumored to be socially dead but I don't think the campus dictates how social and interactive you want to be with your peers. In other words, its what you make of it. UCSD is definitely a great school! I really don't have anything negative to say about it. NOTE: I'm even giving up Cal for SD.

Both are good but UCSD's is considerably better.

The campus is huge. Freshmen 15 doesn't exist here because you have to walk so far to class. However, the majority of the campus is very beautiful. The weather is perfect 10 months of the year, which is great because we have amazing beaches in walking distance. I haven't been to UCI so I don't know how to college town compares, but ours sucks, so you either need a car or be very good friends with someone with a car to have a lot of fun here (most parties are not in walking distance).

I'm pretty sure most people say that the asian girls at UCI are the hottest but most of UCSD is asian anyway so you shouldn't be unhappy here.

Oh, by the way Jasonlee, I'm not Korean. I'm actually half-white/half-Japanese. I just have a thing for Koreans =D. But anyways yea, if you're saying SD has all 3 of those things then you're really persuading me more. Bear in mind though, I will check out both campuses. Anyways, I'd like to hear more opinions from others =)

oh my bad! Sorry for assuming stuff like that. It just seemed that way to me since you had a specific ethnic preference. Once again, I apologize.

If you're doing engineering, UCSD is the obvious choice. UCSD completely blows away UCI in terms of engienering, and you're likely to have a lot more opportunities at UCSD than UCI

if you have a fetish for korean girls, you can't go wrong with either school. but there seem to be more in the NYC/NJ area if you want to move out east.

how about econ or business-econ major?
in term of job opportunities, reputation, etc, is UCSD or UCI better for that?(with regent scholar from UCI but nothing from UCSD)

Actually I haven't decided to go to UCSD yet because I am also considering U of A. The giganitic asian population is one of the turn offs because asians are so cliquish it isn't even funny. Easily U of A has the most white population ever and the girls are all tanned and absolutely gorgeous. I think I saw 1/50 were asian, 1/50 were black, and I dunno on the hispanics. Overall I think that the school is like 75% white which nicely coincides with my high school. 9/10 girls in California are cute, the 10th goes to UCSD.

I am pretty sure 75% is the largest white population one can realistically expect since it gels with the fact that 65% of the US is white (5% asian, 15% black, 15% hispanic). I don't get how 5% asian could have such a huge presence in Cali.

Dude - If you want to go to U of A, go to U of A. Nobody will mourn your loss. If your main concern is hooking up with hot girls, why not go to UCSB and try to strike some balance between academics and girls? Or, if you don't care at all about academics, go to an SEC school.

Perhaps the better question is why are you espousing this all over the UCSD message board? Look - go elsewhere if that's where you want to go, but I have a hard time believing you'll be hooking up with the hotties at U of A if your spending your time trolling UCSD's message board with this material.

Um...yeah look up what trolling actually means...the OP did mention that girls was a factor for him so I expanded on it with my commentary. And where did I talk about hooking up with girls at UA or caring about being mourned for not going to UCSD?

UCSB doesn't have a good engineering program so such much for that...

Lol, honestly I will never use this board ever again after August....

$20 says you're asian though taking offense to the truth. There is a hilarious "Yellow Fever" video floating on youtube that centers on the Asians at UCSD and how they are a dime a dozen...makes me laugh every time...or the video of Alums complaning about all the asians that can't drive their silver honda accords because they can't see left and right.

A) Don't get pedantic re: trolling. We both know that was a completely appropriate use of that term in context.

B) You referred to "still considering U of A" and then went on to say that "easily U of A has the most white population ever and the girls are all tanned and absolutely gorgeous. I think I saw 1/50 were asian, 1/50 were black, and I dunno on the hispanics." You were implying still considering U of A because of the girls, correct? If so, is it a leap to impute "hooking up" as your intention? The mourning was in reference to my point - nothing you said - in stating that you should go to U of A if you want to.

I'll grant that you might be an exception, but engineers are generally not known for either social skills or game with the ladies.

You're very wrong. White guy who is with a gorgeous girl from UCSD.

Nice Edit adding the P.S. bro: Go to U of A. Seriously - try to hook up with all the hotties you can. Good luck.

i side with UCSD Alum on this one, but I think amateurcollegegu just wants some attention, even if it is the virtual kind. can't get enough in the real world?

unless you're paid to sit by a computer (which some of us are), you shouldn't even be on CC as often as you are.
