UCSD or wait to apply to more schools this fall?

Hey guys,
So i got accepted into UCSD, (I only applied to UCSD). I still need one more year at my cc to finish up the lower division engineering courses, so I am unsure if i should transfer now and attend UCSD this fall or if i should wait another year and apply to more schools now that i will have the minimum requirements.

I should be content with UCSD since it is a really good school but i am unsure if I will be missing out on other great schools like UCLA or UCB.

Im a minority, female who is trying to do electrical engineering so idk if that would help my application, if i chose to stay another year and apply to UCLA/UCB.

My GPA is a 3.57 and I am very active in my community with volunteering almost every weekend, I also have a job where I work 20+hours in an engineering field.

Do you guys Know of anyone that has gotten into UCLA or UCB with stats similar to mine? This would help me decide if i should stay another year or not. Or do you guys know of other schools that have good engineering programs that I could probably get into based on my GPA. I wouldn't mind going to the east coast.

Let me tell you something. You should consider yourself VERY LUCKY to have gotten into UCSD in the first place with a 3.57 GPA. The average GPA for UCSD is 3.9 at-least. By letting go of this opportunity you MIGHT possibly blow the opportunity of getting into UCLA, UCB and UCSD next year. I am sorry to be harsh but you chances at UCB and UCLA are already very slim, at this stage you should have a 3.8 or higher GPA. UCB doesn’t even take 4.0 GPAs. I would take this opportunity you have now and be happy with it. There are people with higher stats DYING to be in your shoes. Don’t blow this… good luck with your decision.

wow, 3.5…thats a tough call. If you can afford to go, I would say RUN TO UCSD. You are very lucky and congrats. You never know you can fail a class or something and ruin your chances.

Engineering undergrad doesn’t matter that much and UCSD is a top 20 engineering school. If you don’t need to save money by staying in community college another year, take it now or you will regret it. The average transfer at UCLA is around 3.5-3.7 and it is not that much better of a school to wait. UCB is, but do you wanna take that gamble?

UCSD all the way

i think it would be better to go to ucsd; at least you would be establishing seniority in regards to class registration; as far as getting into ucla and cal, it would be tough; the GPA cutoff for ucla was about 3.9~ for the engineering department i believe–i would not be surprised if it was the same for cal. you must also factor in other borderline/competitive students that opted to wait another year to reapply to sd/la/berk. think carefully on your decision and good luck!

I think you are in the EXACT same situation as me. I’ve also gotten into UCSD as an electrical engineering major however I haven’t finished all of my Pre requisite courses like you.
I strongly considered staying back at cc another year due to financial difficulties.
What lower division classes are you kissing by the way?
