So for those who have gone to Orientation, what did you guys think? I just feel like spreading the campus spirit and vibe so I wanted to bring up the topic here.

I got that Thurgood Marshall College is a place full of enthusiastic people (granted, I experienced a select random sample) who know how to study and have fun. The atmosphere was really upbeat and the professors seemed to really treat the students as adults while the other staff also seemed really nice.

What are your thoughts, opinions, etc. about it (it being UCSD in general, the other colleges, etc) ?

GO TRITONS!

(So tempting to put something about a certain college being better than the others right here, but I think they are all pretty great and I am glad with my choice)

I don’t have orientation until Monday, but I’m in Marshall too. So I may end up living with you. Good to know you enjoyed it. Did you have to get there at 7:30? Because it’s a half hour drive for me and that’s without morning traffic so I wanna know how early I have to get up.

Your enthusiasm is endearing. Glad you had a good time!

FWIW, I met up with a group of NYC-area alums for a beer and taco crawl last weekend. Not quite the same vibe as late-night runs to Roberto’s for carne asada fries, but a good time nonetheless. We all reminisced about UCSD being a great place - enjoy it!

Umm, I don’t remember exactly. It was a little over an hour drive for me so I got there way early because I was afraid of them starting without me. What I got was that they weren’t really super strict on the 7:30 thing b/c there were a lot of ppl who had to sign in. Then after that we all got into a big room and ppl started talking and then they asked if anyone had come late etc. who had not signed in yet and if so then they just had to go sign in and they were good
Haha, you’ll enjoy it for sure! See you around potential roomate ; p

Thanks! That sounds really cool and “hella” fun haha ; p. I’m glad that the UCSD spirit lives on post undergraduate years.

My orientation isn’t until September 14th >.>, meaning early move in (this is the only Warren orientation). It’s good because I don’t have to pay airfare and such to go there, but it sucks because I don’t get the chance to make early connections with people. D:

I had a great time in orientation. My OL was super enthusiastic and friendly, and he gave a lot of advice about everything, like enrolling in classes, how to get around campus. I’m in Warren, so it was really great to spend time all day (for two days!) getting to know the campus and other kids in Warren. During this time, you also begin to get to know your suitemates because it’s probably the only time all year that you will be able to have your meals at the same time with all 10 people. During my entire first year, the only time all 10 people in my suite were together was when we forced everyone to do secret santa for Christmas. I definitely loved those two days, and I wish I had realized then how valuable they are!
