I got into UCSD, UCSB, and SDSU and I am having so much trouble deciding which school to go to. I toured all of them and location-wise, I loved UCSD the most. However, it’s a huge let down to hear that UCSD is not a social school and that there is a weak party scene because I love to party. That is why I am considering the other schools too. I know it’s ridiculous to consider this a factor in deciding what school I go to, but I want to have fun with fun people and really enjoy my college experience. At the same time, I want to study and be able to achieve academically. Also, I heard that UCSD might be building a frat row 2017-18, is this true?? And is there parties for people who aren’t involved in Greek life? And can UCSD students go to parties at SDSU because I know a friend who will be going there. Thank you!
donno about the frat row rumors, I’ve been hearing that one for a few years now. if you wanna party all the time, going greek is the easiest way. it’s a lil more laid back than most campus’s greek scenes but still legitimate. if you’re not affiliated it’s easy to talk to people who are and get invited to events–that said, there are plenty of parties outside of greek life to find. just talk to people, make friends, and get lit it’s not that hard. don’t feel bad for tryna have fun during college, it’s college mate. you can go to sdsu parties, but my friends at sdsu say they can’t even go to sdsu parties bc of the stringent guest lists.
tldr ucsd is not a party school like the other two but you’ll still easily find parties if you want to, worst case rush
if ur serious bout parties- UCSD isnt a choice
but u also want to good academcis- wats ur major?
UCSB is great- one of the best work hard play hard mentality schools out there
Non-greek member here who goes to/knows of parties. Parties are easy to find, lots of them are open. Join clubs, meet people, get along with people in your dorm, and you’ll always find something to do. UCSD is what you make of it, like many others have said. If you’re social, you’ll have social activities to do. If not, you won’t. You have to be willing to put yourself out there. Haven’t heard about the greek row thing but I’m pretty sure it’s not true cause of La Jolla’s stringent housing laws.
My major is international studies - sociology. I might change majors though because I am not sure with what I am passionate or interested about yet…
