UCSD: Pathway to Pharmacy

Hello everyone!

I'm currently a senior in high school and have been admitted to UCSD's Revelle. I'm majoring in "Physiology & Neuroscience", which SHOULD be a SINGLE major (I hope...). I'm interested in going to pharmacy school in either Skaggs or UCSF.

I first want to know if "Physiology & Neuroscience" is a "good" major that includes several required classes for my pharmacy schools. If not, which major would one suggest?

My second inquiry is if I follow my major in Revelle, which GE's would be recommended to be taken elsewhere during the summer (i.e. De Anza). I know that a lot of Revelle's GE's are rigorous and tedious, so I want to complete them over the summer in a nearby community college.

My last inquiry is what will increase my chances during college to get into a pharmacy school. I know only a handful of prospective students are admitted out of thousands, which honestly really frightens me because I'm not an academic genius.

I know I may be asking a lot, especially from those who never attended Revelle, and that I can search these up online somewhere, but if you can respond to my inquiries, then you will be saving hours of my time!!~

Any input will help! Thank you in advance!!! :]

I bet they have a future pharmacists club at UCSD. Ask them. ;-)

I heard if someone is interested in pharmacy, they should major in chem, biochem, or molec. bio before entering pharmacy school. plus, there are more pharmacy schools in CA besides UCSF and UCSD, but UCSF is #1 in the nation for the pharmacy program.

Ask UCSF or USC pharmacy schools how they view grades. Would they look askance at courses taken at a CC because they know they are not as rigorous? You want to be as competitive as those applicants who took their pre-pharmacy courses at their 4 year colleges.
