UCSD: Rising in Ranks

Hi Everyone,

What are your thoughts and opinions over UCSD's accelerating progress as a university? UCSD is rising in ranks which each passing year, which is a remarkable accomplishment, especially when considering it's relative youth as a campus.

Here is the article that sparked my interest in the question:

I would appreciate any discussion here on the topic. It's important that current and incoming UCSD students understand their importance in shaping UCSD's caliber as an educational institution.

NOTE: This thread was posted a few hours ago until I realized I had not posted it on the correct forum. Just letting ya'll know. :)

Personally, I don’t trust rankings.
Forbes just recently came out with their top 300 college list just last week. UCSD was ranked 6th among the UCs, behind UCB,UCLA,UCSB,UCD,UCI respectively.
I don’t know what formula they used, but UCSD is certainly probably 3rd when it comes to the strength of their programs.

UCSD is improving far more rapidly than these rankings report.
The college experience for every single person certainly differs. You can’t expect to become a success only because you go to a top college.
UCSD is certainly a solid school with respected programs and alumni. Incoming students shouldn’t use just rankings to choose a college.

Forbes isn’t really a reliably source for college rankings.

I wrote a really long post in response to this but my session had apparently timed out so I lost it all when I tried to submit it. I will now sit here angrily and contemplate writing it again.

@$KingsElite$, I’d love to read it if you decide to write it again =D

I second that. Would read if you posted it again.
