Ucsd social life

Hi i got into uc san diego (rjected from UCLA). I have worries about the social life at ucsd. I myself am interested in going to college to study, but also have fun: parties, etc. I ve heard a lot of stuff about how there are a bunch of nerds there. I just wanted to know what ur take on the social life is
thx a lot

lol i am a nerd… embrace your nerdiness

It exists.

If nothing else, I can be your party buddy! Haha. Yeah… not a nerd. Musician, but NOT a nerd.

it only exists if you make it to

from what i heard…
UCSD IS SOCIALLY DEAD. NO PARTIES. STUDY HARD. LAME.
but for some who join clubs and actually get involved… they have a BLAST

on the weekdays study at UCSD
on saturday party it up at SDSU
on sunday hang with church goers at USD

but hmm UCSD was my first choice anyways so im not coming in with the whole CAL/UCLA bitter reject mentality and plus the social life at Sd is gonna be rockin when i get there :P

I disagree with you that SD students “study hard.” To be honest SD students are some of the most academically average people I have ever met. I don’t meant that in a sense that they’re bad people or are uninteresting or unmotivated, but when it comes to academics, I don’t think SD students study more or less hard than anywhere else. Just extremely average.

I also don’t think SD students themselves are socially dead. I will say the CAMPUS is “dead” on the weekends but that can be a good or bad thing. It’s just that we take the party off campus on those days. And it’s not even as if we don’t offer anything on campus. Aren’t there concerts pretty much every single night of the weekday?

Won’t happen.

lol, the general consensus is that there is 0 social life at UCSD. This is very understandable considering they somehow reject 4.0 students. I kind of have this thing against UCSD since they rejected my friend, a part of the aforementioned “4.0 students” group, who scored a 2000+ on the SAT and did well on the SAT2. She also golfed and played tennis for four years and was class rep 2 years… MISTAKE? Yeah I think so. Top 10% in our school >.> …fail

The general consensus also happens to be extremely wrong, and always seems to come from those outside of UCSD. The campus is quite deserted on the weekends, yes, but that may be a plus for some (like me). As for parties, I’ve been to plenty in the area, and many of them on campus. There’s no shortage, but don’t expect someone to come knocking on your door and inviting you to one.

We have our hardcore studiers, and we have our hardcore slackers. It’s not as if we sit in the library during all our free time, studying or conversing about our majors. I’d suggest talking to someone who goes to the school as opposed to listening to those who don’t attend.

Unless you guys have problems being social, shouldnt be too much of a problem.

If by party you mean star trek/dungeons and dragons and math parties, then it should be no problem at all.

Don’t know what parties you’re going to my friend…in fact, how does a math party work? Perhaps if you miss an integration problem, you have to drink?
“Yessss, I have proven the theory of relativity wrong using vector calculus…each of you take 3 shots, plus you each must miss a math class on monday”
“Miss math? Nooooo”

Someone not happy with their perceived lack of partying prospects?

Math parties would work better by playing a pictionary-like game using induction proofs.

Oh god, please not proofs. I hate those with a passion.

If you miss an integration you have to formulate a complex power series, what is this “drink” you speak of? I have no conceptual understanding of such things.

oh gawd… not another one of these threads… every freakin year. really?
are you antisocial? there’s plenty to do around here. come visit, and make up your mind.

if you’re gonna reject ucsd based on this then you’re an idiot.
peace

Oh go take your logic and reasoning somewhere else…there’s no room for that on the internet. Haha i kid, my (former) suitemate.

ADiTaMi Is completely right guys haha. If you reject a school for certain rumors… then you have other problems to worry about.

this year ucsd is gonan eb full of parties. I know plenty of party animals who got in. but smart at the sametime
