Is it true that UCSD is not a very social university? I know that it doesn’t have a football team or much school spirit. I’m not really interested in getting wasted or whatever, but I don’t want a school where everyone just sits in their dorms.

Um....that is such an old question. You can look at other threads in this forum. But basically UCSD has 350+ clubs from Sun God Worshippers to Che worshippers, surf club, etc. Dorms are nice, and its beautiful and SDSU is nearby. People usually hang out it in the library out during the week and go out during the weekends or have parties. If you join a sorority/fraternity, you will have a lot of parties to go to along with a bunch of friends.

go fishing? surfing? shopping? movies? food? sunbathe

I heard the student body is fairly athletic too. Most students participate in intramurals from what I hear and the weather there permits it year-round. So if you don't care to get drunk all the time you should be fine. And if you really want to go to a wild party, San Diego State isn't far away.

USD and Mexico are also pretty popular party locations according to my friends.

This has to be the most annoying question in the world....how would we know anyway...a vast majority of the people on the forum dont go to school there...i mean, if you think its boring, you're most likely boring as well.

^^ oh hobo, i love how you're always so sharp.

yeah hobo, if we end up at the same school we are definitely hanging out

^^ oh vii, i love how you are so adorable

and heck yeah scaper, if you want, I'm sure you'll find me...I'll be the crazy nudie chick. =/

:D you guys make me smile...now you're going to have to be in my new TV show, "Everyone Loves Hobo"

and don't you dare say its unoriginal >:|

sounds good hobo, we'll rule the world

and like, if you really don't want people to sit in their dorms, and you find that they are, then you can always start a revolution. sit outside in the same spot like in the middle of the lawn until people start joining you. and I garantee they will, i will at least, and I'll be there next fall. I know that this is a way old question for people that go there, and so while it may seem stupid or petty or whatever, it is a very valid concern. no one wants to be somewhere that doesn't have a community. that's what's nice though, because I bet that nobody there wants to be lonely, everybody wants to belong to something and all of that wanting will turn into lots of connections and communities. such an overused line, but, it is what you make it.
