Ucsd social life

Sorry for the bump, but there’s a consensus that :if: one wants to party on any given day on the week, there’s a high chance that there will be one? I’m not a huge partier, but I just want it to be so that if I have a big test or something, I can go relax and party that night if I want. Thoughts?

Well this one time I went to UCSD for a small rave, and there were three loud parties going on. It was Friday night though, I don’t know how accurate of an indication that is.

The day i went to the overnight program as well as admit day, it was a tremendous amount of fun.

I have asked many of the hosts that took us around that questions they ALL responded with “It’s fun only if you attempt to party”

The parties and fun are out there, you just have to look for it.

UCSD is not socially dead as long as you make fun for yourself along with your friends.

I realize that it was stoopid of me to ask this question. A college is only as fun as the people in it and the class of 2013 is gonna tear it up at UCSD

So is the definition of “party” limited to getting drunk in a loud and crowded place? I’d like to know what you people consider a fun social life. Here’s the challenge: describe your idea of the perfect “party”…

A bunch of philosophers sitting in a room cracking philosophical jokes and trading ideas. There are strippers everywhere, and they’re all well versed in their philosophy. There are also female philosophers not stripping, they’re all hot, and seriously know their philosophy.

LOL, Doesn’t that make for a lot of philosophically naked males?

Nooo what a horrifying image! Philosophical or not. All the strippers are super hot female philosophers, stripping out of sheer post-Marxist deconstructionist feminism. (A whole lot of teasing involved.)

Pretty sure I want you at my party, with or without the strippers. Please keep your clothes on though.

:) I’ll keep that in mind.

wow you guys are so fcking dumb.

you will have a social life at UCSD if you want to have a social life. nothing’s going to just come to you. parties are usually held off campus cuz we don’t have frat rows so having a car or knowing someone with a car will help you a lot. there’s hella stuff to do around here than just partying like beach, downtown la jolla, downtown san diego, etc.

i mean i’m having trouble keeping up with grades than having a social life so idk what the hell these losers are talking about

^ i think i’m going to reference the above post every time somebody asks about the nonexistent social life at ucsd.

So basically there’s not much to do on UCSD’s campus itself besides study. Hence why I’ll be attending UCSB next year.

It’s not like there’s a ton of stuff to do solely on UCSB’s campus. Isla Vista is off campus and that’s where a lot of the activity takes place.

Hey, don’t trash our school if you haven’t even been here.

Ucsd > ucsb
=)

^ Damn straight :)

lol @ angiee’s post.
well said.

UCSD isn’t as tight-knit as UCSB is community wise. Isla Vista is where a lot of stuff happens, but its RIGHT there next to the campus. You have basically everyone at UCSB living in a relatively small area. That kind of social dynamic just isn’t at UCSD, as its more of a commuter school than UCSB. I like UCSB better than UCSD, but that’s just my opinion.

It doesn’t really matter much though.

For your undergraduate experience, I just think, when it comes to the top 6 UCs, you should attend the best fit for you. With all 6 ranging from 21-44 in the U.S. news undergraduate rankings, I don’t think the prestige difference is enough to make up for 4 years of hell at Berkeley/LA whereas you would have 4 great years at Davis/SB/I/SD.

Hell, I even know a kid at my school who’s passing up all 6 of those top UCs to go to Cal Poly-SLO haha.

Graduate school is a different story.

One thing I’m really surprised about, today I went to UCSD and ate at price center. This of course means I got to people watch, there were a lot of hot girls at UCSD! Am I already inflicted with triton eye? Or is it all a hoax?
