If Sungod is any indication of a social life, you should transfer out immediately. I'm serious.

It's not necessarily that hard to find a party, but finding a party where you won't get written up or it won't get broken up by the cops is damn near impossible. I remember in orientation they used to tell us that the RSOs and RAs really won't care if you're drinking as long as you're not being loud or way too intoxicated; bull*. If you run into an RSO/UCSD cop while being even slightly drunk, it's likely they'll write you up, send you to detox, or even arrest you. This year is especially bad because of the whole SDSU bust and the fact that the school let in far too many people than they can accommodate with their guaranteed 2-year housing so they're looking for any reason to kick out people to make room for next year. I can think off the top of my head at least 20 people that have had their housing canceled, in most cases they weren't even being loud or inconsiderate of others, nor were they * faced wasted, nor did they have a lot of write ups in the past.

UCSD reslife/RSOs will go out of their way to screw you if you like to party.

Ah, well I'm renting a house in University City, so it'll be pretty easy to party it up. Who actually thinks there would be good parties in the dorms in the first place? Even at UCSB all the parties worth going to are in IV and not on campus..

why can't they just let college students be college students???

Last night I was walking by and saw the cops telling this one drunk girl that they have to take her to detox. They said, "well if we were to let you go there's a good chance you may not wake up, this is for your safety". She was walking in a straight line, she wasn't loud or obnoxious, she was barely even drunk. <3 UCSD.

If she wasn't loud or obnoxious and walking in a straight line how'd they know she was drunk?

UCSD RSO Special Unit (6 minutes 57 seconds)
One of the highlights of Superkeen, "RSO" is a parody of the COPS television show using real dialog taken from mouths of only the finest campus officers. The introductory footage is real... students dressed in homemade uniforms raided the dorm rooms until a real RSO put a stop to it. There are many inside jokes here; too many to name, really, but the skit is enjoyable to the uninitiated as well. Special thanks: The Salvation Army (for the cheap jackets).

They probably tested her or something. I'd like to know what the probable cause was however...

I don't think they need to have probable cause on a college campus. You are under a different set of rules.

So basically the RSO's can walk up and randomly breathalize you even if you're doing nothing wrong?

The RSO's are pretty strict when it comes to the booze, i did not picture my college experience to be like this, hopefully it should pick up by next year, if it doesn't I am transferring to another school........

is it really that bad? see i don't know what to believe because I hear different things from different people. can anyone comment on social life at revelle?

its not really that bad. just dont be open/loud/obnoxious and you wont get in trouble..have some friends with off campus houses your first year..if its still horrible to you next year live off campus yourself..you just dont have partying on campus..the beggining of the year is fun, winter it gets kind of dull until around break, and spring has been pretty busy

honestly i worried about it alot, but once you get here youll find plenty of people who feel the same way as you and want to change the no-social scence assumptions and want to party, so if you want to you can...i know kids who play beerpong with their dorm closet doors on wednesday nights...you can always find people to get alcohol from..and i dont have the direct citation, but i remember seeing that rso's cant search your rooms without a 24 hour notice (unless they straight see alcohol/drugs in your room) so pretty much everyone has booze in their freezers etc.

its not chico, no one can say that, but its not bad either..i like it better than sate also...bc state is just a bunch of frats who let in 50,000 girls and 30 guys and its not very fun. the frats here are also have at least one party a weekend, generally.

if youre brave, theres also tj, its not as bad as everyone says..but still its pretty sketch..the open bars and dance clubs are something worth going once for i think tho

and it think theyre opening a new college club here sometime soon..been advertising it all year

just be careful if you drink on campus though...be around responsible people who know how to keep in line or you will get into trouble, i know plenty. keep suite doors/dorm doors locked and dont open them unless you know whos there, have a knock or something...RA's and stuff will just walk through your suites if theyre unlocked and 'patrol' at all times of the night

I had the same attitude as the guy above until I went to UC Santa Barbara where I then realized that the social climate here at UCSD isb really lagging. on the weekends most college campuses are lively, the students are going around socializing. At UCSD the campus looks like a ghost town.

^ That's just because it's a commuter school, so a lot of the functions happen off-campus.

From what I understand, if I know the right people, I shouldn't have too much trouble finding a party.

exactly, lol

they could tell just because of the way she was talking... and asian glow :)

I mean, of course people will party no matter how bad it is; but the fact that it's so hard to find parties on a normal basis sucks.

hey what's the name of the snowboard club at ucsd, i had a substitute teacher who went to UCSD and said that there was a really fun and social club, it had name it wasn't called snowboard club it wasn't just snowboarding it had many activities.

if you're asian. i know where the party's at. hit me up come welcome week.
