Hi, I was just admitted to UCSD Math-CS in Revelle and after I did some more research, I’m not sure if Revelle would be the right dorm for me. I really don’t want to take too many Art and English GE’s and I’d rather focus on electives suited more towards STEM.
Is it possible to ask to be switched to a different college and receive a confirmation before I would have to commit on May 1 or would that have to be done once I was at the school for a while?
Here is some info on this: https://academicaffairs.ucsd.edu/_files/ug-ed/uaac/ICTCriteria.pdf
I am a current Revelle student, and I’m going to tell you honestly, it’s not worth it to switch. The HUM sequence is not bad at all and by the time you switch into a different college (not very likely), you already will have taken 2/5 HUMs. College transfers do not happen often and is really not worth the effort to switch.
I am a Human Bio major with 2 minors, so taking more STEM on top of the Revelle requirements is definitely doable. It also gives you a break from the stem classes.
It also says that they will not consider switches due to GE preference, so you would need a different reason if you were to apply for a switch.
