Ok so I'm an incoming freshmen to UCSD but I always planned on going to UCLA and was rejected. I was alright with it at first but now I have some personal reasons to be in Los Angeles in addition to my original desire reemerging. I know you need 90 units to transfer and I already have 52 thanks to my ap tests. But I'm considering between three majors, regular chemistry, regular Bio, and biochemistry and want to know which one would increase my chances of getting in and make my first year at ucsd not too overwhelming. Also I would like to know if can you change your major once you get into ucla as a transfer. I heard they're kind of strict about it. And lastly I would like to know if anyone from ucsd was able to transfer out after one year and how they did it. Thanks.

You should maybe post this thread on UCLA page as well.
I don’t have any experience regarding this issue but if I were you, I might go with the major that I know I can get most A’s out of it because GPA matters the most when you transfer. However, I would say the majors you listed weren’t so different in terms of difficulties. Maybe go with bio if you are a bio person or go with chem if you’re better at math and have poorer memorization.
It’s possible to transfer. I know someone who just transferred out of here from electrical engineering to UCB (don’t remember what major but pretty sure it wasn’t any kind of engineering major) but I didn’t ask him what he got for his GPA but it gotta be pretty high I think. He transferred out after 2 years and not 1 year.
