I was waitlisted as well.
Major: Economics
GPA: 3.67
Accepted to: UCSB, UCD, UCI, SLO
Rejected to: UCLA
UCSD is so prestigious/well known for Econ so I hope I get in otherwise it looks like it’s Davis for me!

@BrasilianNat seriously you were waitlisted with that gpa? makes non sense. if you don’t get in I’m probably really unlikely. I’m math-econ though.

It’s been a couple of weeks since I got the notice, but I was accepted to UCSD. Don’t know if I’ll go yet, I have a lot more schools to hear back from :)

The admissions rep I spoke with told me that it does not matte when opt in. They choose the same way they would for regular admissions… Idk if this helps anyone!

Major:sociology and political science
Gpa: 3.41

Accepted: UCD, UCI

Rejected: CAL

If we get accepted from the waitlist, are we going to get a packet just like the other people that were admitted?

Waitlisted; UCSD
RejectedL UCI, UCSB, UCSC
Accepted: SDSU
Intended Major: Computer Science
IGETC: Yes
GPA: 3.47
Prerequisites: Done with all the ones offered at my CC, gonna try to take one more class this summer from a distant CC.

Haven’t submitted my wait list statement yet, but I will opt in, I’ll probably turn it in Mon or Tues. Really had my heart set on this school. Hopefully the admit stats off the waitlist for transfers are similar to years past. I feel like I have a good chance, but I also thought that about all of the other UC’s that I applied to and that didn’t work out so well.

@studentmiller, I have the same exact GPA, 3.47, as you, and I also completed UCSD prereqs (finishing last one this spring), except the ones that don’t articulate. I got waitlisted as well.

@bhav007, I would have done TAG too, but my Discrete Math teacher was terrible and brought my GPA down to just below the 3.5 limit. Seems like there are quite a few CompSci majors who were just below the cutoff. It is my understanding that UCSD doesn’t admit by major, so we should have just as good of a chance as anyone else who is applying for non-impacted majors. Good luck! I am staying in SD either way because all other UC’s rejected me for whatever reason. I submitted my intent to enroll for SDSU, but I will still go to UCSD if I get admitted. I’m still surprised I got rejected by so many places, but oh well.

waitlisted UCSD
rejected UCLA UCB UCI
major ECON and I applied business administration in UCI
gpa: 3.74
prerequisites completed except one calculus class

I have no idea why I get rejected by all the schools I applied(on my birthday I recived all the rejection). UCSD is my
last hope. Actually I took a overseas university for one and half year, but I submitted the transcript when they ask.

@DanielDu:
I took classes overseas for one year too…got rejected from UCSD and UCSB(did not submit the transcript), however I got into UCI!!! CS major with 3.58…appeal for UCI.

@bolandgoo you get accepted why still want to appeal?

No I meant “you” should appeal to UCI…you might not get into UCSD from waitlist…I think UCI would be the only UC school that would take it easy on foreign university! at least you will have UCI!

Just saw this thread.
Waitlisted for Comm
GPA: 3.06

honestly I’m extremely surprised they offered me a spot on the waitlist considering my GPA is so much lower than everyone else’s here. I’m feeling hopeful for this though just because It’s much closer to home than SF State

Also, on the transfer housing village site, I noticed this too, “NEW Incoming Transfer students will be GUARANTEED their first year at the Village for the 2014-2015 academic year.”

I’m guessing that includes waitlisted transfers too?

@movieguy

But I believe that I saw something on their website saying that the students on waitlist who accept their offer after June 1 will not be guaranteed housing.

For those who got waitlisted, make sure you opt-in. They take a lot of transfer students off the waitlist and non from freshman waitlist. Be sure to write a very good 200 word essay and focus more on your major and how good their department is for your major. How the school can benefit you in your studies. also talk about how you are going to use the resources(be specific. go to their website. attend transfer day) they have and explain why UCSD should give you a second chance. what is unique about you etc… be very specific! I am pretty sure at least 80% of you will get in. Make sure to maintain a 3.0GPA by the end of spring or they can revoke your admission. They will send out the decisions in batches(may be 3). It is typically the first, second and the third week of June. Good Luck to all of you!! Go Tritons!!

@zcarfaz, oh crap. Zcarfaz just gave us the algorithm to the waitlist. Now the competition is going to be so real between us waitlisted people.

does our 200 word essay necessarily need to be exactly 200? Or can I go a few words over?

@movieguy

It needs to be 200 or less. If you have 200+, the system won’t let you go through.

do we have to submit our official transcript since we’re waitlisted?
