UCSD Transfer 2014 Waitlist?

@2014drew no! you do not have to. Some of you might even hear back from them before June 1st. If they need anything, they should let you know. Only thing they need now is a good essay from you. Good Luck!

Will there be something similar to transfer day for waitlisted students if we are admitted? It seems like we are missing out on a lot of information since we can’t attend transfer day.

@zcarfaz : They specifically said to explain how we could benefit from the school. I’m guessing you were a previously waitlisted student. Did you have a different prompt requested of you?

Will they email us to let us know when they’ve come to a decision? Or do we just have to keep checking ourselves?

@kyle2015‌ They will email you. However, I recommend checking their website every other day just incase. :)

I also got waitlisted by UCSD and UCD. Do you guys think they will look at your winter term?
I’m asking this is because my Fall GPA got me 2.8 and Winter GPA got me up to 3.2. Got a freaking F in the Fall so I had to retook it over the Winter. What are the chances of getting in?
Major: Biology.
IGETC: completed.

I filed an appeal and now I do not see the option to opt in to the waitlist. IS that option gone now?

@kyle2015‌ They said that there will be an email notification of the application update, but I think it doesn’t bother to check every couple of days by ourselves, just in case.

@SoCalVetGal No sure about your case… but since their Q&A section says that we can appeal as well as be in the waitlist, I think there has to be a way for you to opt-in. Check the UCSD website again or call their admission.

@AlmostPeace‌ They’ll ask for your transcript when necessary. However, you can write in the waitlist essay that your winter quarter grades will raise your GPA to 3.2 to let them know.

@willyz ahh… I opted in last weekend and didnt mention about the winter grade. But i did a real strong waitlist essay exactly like zcarfaz stated. My GPA is currently 3.2. After this Spring it might be 3.3.
It’ll be a miracle if UCSD or UCD take me!!

@AlmostPeace‌ I actually have the similar situation, got a bad grade last semester and have good ones this spring. It’s hard to predict what gonna happened, but good luck for us!!

@AlmostPeace my gpa is currently 3.28 (sociology major) after spring it could be a 3.4-3.5…psychology professor bull crapped me and didn’t push my B+ to an A which i could of had a 3.33 gpa smh. Anyway, our gpa’s are quite identical and i’m confident we’ll both get in. As long as you wrote an excellent 200 word essay that was truthful and sincere. I’m currently waiting on a decision from USC, and am also in the process of appealing UCLA and Berkeley…i know not much of a chance but there’s always hope lol. Overall, best of luck to you! Last year alot of ppl with 3.0-3.2 gpa’s got accepted off of the waitlist, so i think we have a solid chance. No matter what happens keep your head up dude, you are still a success.

What really kills me is I should have had guaranteed admission through the University Link program. I feel as a female Veteran my counselor failed to give me that small piece of information when she helped me draft my ed plan.

hopefully a lot of people that were accepted decide to attend other schools so that we can get their spots. either way im confident that at least some of the “higher” waitlisted gpas will have a good chance. I have a 3.5 for computer engineering

On a side note: we should try to see if the housing trick applies to the waitlisted transfers as well

what is this housing trick you speak of?

@Ameezus‌

You can have my spot, lol. I’ve already declined my offer.

@SoCalVetGal‌ during the original application process if your housing message changed it was a signed that you’d be admitted

@ocnative lol thanks!!

Wish I could say I got wait listed… I got rejected with a 3.93 GPA in Computer Engineering… oh well off to UCLA

@chaoscuber‌, you got into UCLA tho, which is awesome.
