UCSD Transfer Housing Question

Okay, so maybe I'm a little slow, but I'm a little unsure of how the housing thing at UCSD works for transfers this year. Yeah, we get assigned to one of the six colleges upon acceptance, but according to UC San Diego Housing - The Village at Torrey Pines, West, more than 1000 transfer students will be staying in their new transfer housing buildings this year.

Does anyone have any idea of how this might work? Do we get a choice? Would you guys rather stay at the college you were assigned to, or in this new transfer housing building? I know I should call admissions, but I thought I'd post this question on here since I have it now--and I was kind of looking forward to staying at Warren.

Transfers dont get to stay at the college dorms. Thats why they are building the transfer apartments so transfers will finally have a place to stay on campus instead of having to find an apartment off campus. So the only option we will have on campus is the transfer housing apartments they are building.

Then why are transfer students accepted into the six college system? For example, I was admitted to Warren College as a major in English.

Because that’s how UCSD works, your required GE courses are based on your assigned college. It’s just a tradition, doesn’t necessarily correlate with housing assignments.

Oh, alright. Thanks guys.

Plus they already have a spot for it on their diploma’s template…and who wants to make another template.
