UCSD Transfer Students!!

So who is transfering to UCSD?

have you got in ? How old are you guys and are any of you going to transfer admit day?

I'm 21 i'm transfering this fall and i got into sixth college
i sometimes feel like i'm older than most transfers but i took 1 year break from school to work and travel.

I'm really excited, my only concern however is Housing, i don't know anyone in SD so i don't know how i'm going to find a good roomate. Hopefully i'll make some friends my first quarters, maybe even join a fraternity so i can meet some ppl to roomate w/.

Anyone going to transfer day? i don't know if it's worth the drive, i'm from San Jose Ca.. about 9 hours from SD

i am most likely not going to transfer to UCSD (not even accepted yet, lol) but my sister did transfer and my brother attended there as a freshman. even my little cousins got in, lol.

I suggest you go to Transfer Day. It's a great way to meet a lot of really enthusiastic people and you can find a roommate there, at least some new friends.

I suggest you stay AWAY from the fraternities. One of my closest friends joined a sorority (Tri Delta, yes, the whore sorority) she ever since then, she's had a tough time making friends that aren't in her sorority. Frat kids are typically looked down upon by non-greek students (not ethnicity, i mean frats/sororities). They rip on them all the time, from the SD parties that I've been to. Also they're not really that exciting, in comparison to SB (i don't think anything is very exciting in comparison to SB). You drank 6 shots of rum, whoo hoo, you're in the frat/sorority... yay.

Transfer Day is invaluable. If you can, why not take the train and just ride it down to SD. You can easily take a bus from Solana Beach to La Jolla and then walk to one of the school buses, they'll take you right to the school.

i got accepted to SD(muir college) but SD is not my 1st choice so not sure if i am ganna go there.. not sure about the transfer admit day either...
by the way, you are not that old... im ganna turn 21 next month so it's all good!

I am 21, got in to Thurgood Marshall, and I am considering going to the transfer day.

thedude44- you are still gana go to transfer day?! i thought ur ganna go to berkeley..

yeah i'm not really into the greek life, i was mostly interested in a latino fraternity simply to meet people because i have no friends in socal.

Many people seem to be leaving UCSD as their back up plan if they don't get into CAL or UCLA, i have a 4.0 Gpa but did not even bother applying to berkely or LA, for some reason i don't really like those schools

Yea I reeeeeaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyy wanna go to Berkeley. But I still want to go to UCSD to check out the campus. Are you suppose to be committed to UCSD before you go to transfer day?

orozcosg- where are you from?how come u don't like Cal or LA?

thedddue44- i've been to UCSD like 5-6times so i already know... lots of my friends go there.... the campus is decent looking nothing crazy..

No, it's just like a way for accepted students to get a little familiar with the campus and help them make their decision on whether they want to attend to UCSD or not.

I might go because i applied to UCSB as well and their transfer day is on May 9, so i'll go to SB friday may 9, then drive to san diego for transfer day on may 10. it will probably be more worth my gas money if I have two schools to visit.

I applied to UCSB but really have no intention of going there because I have been there on quite a few occasions and I can not for see myself doing anything but drinking and partying.

where am i from? Born in mexico moved here at age 13 i live in san jose

I actually think Berkeley and LA are great schools, but for my major (communications) i like san diego and santa barbara better.

haha.... i totally gave up on SB..... it's taking too long.... im just thinking as I did not even applied there...

oh cool!!!! you are similiar to me... I came to US when is was 13... im from S.Korea.... you are not the only one!!

yeah i'm tired of waiting to hear from SB too. I used to check the website everyday and i pretty much gave up on doing so. I stopped checking and if i got in then .. oh well i'll probably get a letter in the mail eventually.

Torrancecali -- come on! The graffiti halls. The sungod statue. The talking tree, the singing tree, the silent tree! The bear stone statue!

did you ever watch the econ majors climb the econ building? they do it once a year. the econ majors that rock climb, obviously. SUN GOD!

if my siblings didn't go there and half of my old HS go there, i would be MUCH more inclined to attend UCSD.

LOL!.. econ majors climb not really... xleper17- your ganna go to SD transfer day? what school is your first choice?

seriously, my brother did it every year when he attended UCSD. I don't want to go to SD and I wouldn't go there for transfer day (unless I get rejected from UCB and UCLA). it is a beautiful school and i absolutely love the campus.

my first choice is UCLA. Then UCB, UCSD and UCD.

are you guys all from california?

i'm from the bay area, and i love it but i'd like to live in so cal for a couple of years, i really want to live near a beach that is not freezing cold like santa cruz

Yea I am from SOCAL but I really want to move up north. Another of many reasons I want to go to Berkeley.
