Hi guys, I am attending UCSD, but I would like to transfer to UCLA because it is my dream school. I am currently planning out my courses for the upcoming school year to prepare for my transfer to UCLA Engineering. As I look at the major requirements, I see that UCLA requires 2 transferable courses in English Composition. However, I could not find any English Composition courses in UCSD. Is there a courses in UCSD that can fulfill this requirement?? Maybe the CAT courses count as transferable English Composition courses?? Please help me!! Thanks!!!

I believe that requirement does not apply for intercampus transfers (could be wrong). I find it hard to believe that UCSD wouldn’t have any English Comp. courses though…

Also, while a UC to UC transfer is generable completely feasible (regardless of what people like to tell you about priority and whatnot), an intercampus transfer in Engineering might be a lot harder. Make sure your engineering courses match perfectly with and satisfies what UCLA wants as pre-requesites…or else you will surely be rejected. I would contact UCLA and your UCSD advisors if I were you.

Thanks for the reply. I have already planned out the math and physics courses that I will be taking in ucsd. I also have ap scores that will satisfy the biology and chemistry requirement. All I need are the English requirements… Also, I thought that UCLA gives the same priorty to intercampus transfers and CCC transfers??

^In writing…yes but in actuality, the admit rate for intercampus transfers is slightly lower. That’s not what’s making your transfer difficult; it’s just generally really hard to get into engineering at UCLA as a transfer, even from community college. It might be harder coming from a UC if your courses don’t exactly match up.

^ Will it hurt if I don’t finish all my GEd in UCSD? I am taking courses in Math, Physics and Computer Science and I don’t think I can finish all my GEs…

GE’s can’t hurt your chances no matter what.
