<p>I plan to major in CSE at UCSD, and CSE or EE with a focus on Computer Engineering at UCLA. I dunno if this particular board may be a little biased due to the fact it is the UCSD forum, I'd like to hear some opinions anyways.</p>
<p>Is there a CSE major at UCSD? I think they only offer CE major which is jointly managed by 2 departments: CSE and ECE.</p>
<p>I have one daughter in CS at UCSD and another in CS at UCLA. So far, the programs are very similar. They're also both ranked very closely. They're both rigorous programs that will require a lot of work. I think you should determine which school you like best on other factors (location, feel of campus, distance from home, etc.) and choose based on that.</p>
<p>personally, i believe ucla is the better choice in this field. It gives you many more options, the social life has all sort of ranges (meaning you can party or not party or just go out with friends) the EE with CE option is quite good and will allow you to expand your opportunities when it comes to a graduate field of study. The amount of internship and job opportunities given to a person at ucla i believe is greater than UCSD because many many companies head to ucla to recruit etc.</p>
