no ivy homerism or UCSD social life bashing, just your opinion on the better biochem/premed program and chances for medical school, thanks

depends on gpa? give me a scenario

Go to Dartmouth, unless you don't like it's location (which is a fairly big issue).

uclipper05 - what do you mean by scenario?

ohnoes - yeah location is a big issue but right now I'm more concerned about the academics...not overall mind you, because Dartmouth overall kicks UCSD's ass...I'm just wondering about biochemistry/premed specifically.

awakendream - yeah I know about that thread....however it got bogged down by ivy homerism and people being sadistic

borkez, don't want you to miss the best thing in your life so far, just go to Dartmouth.

In spite of the ivy homerism, you also need to be aware of those UC people. They don't much about anything, and their sole goal here is to hype UCs moronically.

Not that UCSD is a bad school, but it is just a good not great school. I am working in biological field, so I know UCSD (actually most of UCs, including Berkeley, UCLA, UCD, UCI, since we have those people coming in almost every week to do talks, etc ) pretty well. It is famous because of the graduate program there. They have some super famous faculty (some are retiring though), and some (not all of) great Ph.D. students, but those have nothing to do with undergrads. And the rank confusing you is indeed a faculty publication citation rating, not even a graduate program quality index. Especially when you know the number includes Scripps and Sulk people, you will feel cheated.

IMHO, UCs except for Berkeley get overhyped too much here at CC. They are a great bargain for Californian, and all located in interesting places. Other than these, they are just typical Big10-like public schools which invest a lot on research, and have a lot of famous researchers, most of whom hate teaching with passion:)

And what **** me off is (most) UC people think they have a right to be biased since they go to UCs. You won't want to mess around with those kind of personality, especially when they are much less intelligent that students at Dartmouth.

if you really want to see what you are or aren't missing, go to dartmouth and then do the exchange program with ucsd, lol

^ dartmouth is clearly the best one for pre-med and or bio chem,
i have a cousin you went to dartmouth and got in med school at johns hopkins

dude dont worry go to whichever both are good schools for pre-med just try to get a good record
