I have been admitted to UCSD as a Literature major, UCI as a Comparative Literature major, and USD as an English major. I want to first do my undergraduate studies in an English related field, then go to law school. From research and asking different people, I’ve heard that UCSD is the best school overall, but that UCI has one of the top English programs in the nation. As far as USD goes, I’m not a fan of the high costs but they allow you to begin classes in their law school during your Junior year. I live about 25 minutes away from UCI, and would have preferred to go further. I love the city of San Diego, but am not sure about any of these schools. I have until May 1st to commit, and have been on all 3 campuses, but am incredibly lost in which one to select.
I would say go to UCI since, as you said, they have one of the best English programs in the nation. Also, if you are planning to commute, UCI will allow you to graduate with least amount of debt, which is something to consider if you are going to law school.
