I've gotten into both ucsd and ucsb and i'm having a hard time choosing which school to go to. One thing that's important to me is the presence of a gay community. How does the gay scene at ucsd compare to ucsb? Are they active/prevalent/big? Any info helps.

i believe those two schools, being in the so-cal area, are more conservative than nor-cal.

therefore, you might have a hard time hookin up with guys, mang. sorry

try berkeley? i hear theyre verryyyyy “left”

You should go to UCSB. I’m gay and I’m going there!

All UC Campuses are pretty tolerant, if not accepting, of LGBT student communities. Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSC are probably host to the largest gay communities, but I’m certain that UCSB isn’t far behind. As for politics, the communities surrounding the college have consistently voted Democrat since 1992. While its true that not all Dems are pro gay-rights, it’s more of a safe bet that they are than the Reps.

lol go to berkeley those guys went “left”

UC Santa Cruz is the new Berkeley in terms of the leftist scene. Berkeley has become far too academic for the hippies.

ok read the title it says ucsd vs. ucsb. I say ucsb

SoCal? Conservative?

Well, I wouldn’t know. But UCSB is far from conservative. I go there and the gay community has a pretty decent presence here. There’s still “No on Prop 8” spraypainted all around campus and many buildings have this “Safe Zone” label by the door announcing its tolerance of all people, specifically mentioning sexual orientation. The dorms always have “awareness” programs going on. There’s floors in some dorms specifically for the LGBT community. Even several religious groups have announced their acceptance of the gay community.

Absolutely.

If you want I can get you in contact with a friend of mine who’s gay and has been going to UC San Diego for the past 3 years. He seems hella happy, but don’t take my word for it, talk to him.

Ok OC and SD are conservative, but LA is not. LA is all that matters in southern california.

Dude look at a congressional district map . . . it’s all red.
