It’s not that. The school already predicts that a certain percentage of students will not enroll. They account for that in the total acceptances they send. The accept more students than they want to enroll. The purpose of the wailist is if more students choose not to attend UCSD than they expected then they will accept students off the wailist. Because they haven’t accepted students off the wailist I would guess they got enough students to accept the initial offers.

I checked my portal at around 4:50pm today and I got the welcome letter!
Awesome. Sorry to bombard you with questions. Are you out of state or in state? Although I highly doubt it, did your welcome message mention anything in regards to wait list offers/deadlines/admissions stats in general?
@thisismyname1 assuming that you were asking me. I am in state. It only said the major and college that I was admitted to and that I am supposed to respond by May 8th.

Does anyone know when they actually make the decisions? I know it’s different for everyone, but do they only make decisions during their office hours or just whenever?

@thisismyname1 yes. i also appealed. i found out that my appeal was denied a day or two ago when the appeal confirmation page turned into the waitlist confirmation page on the portal. however, the school sent me an email to check my portal regarding my appeal at about 3 pm today.
I just checked my email and apparently, they did send me an email about my status change at 4:47 pm.
I was looking at previous waitlist threads for various UC schools and some are saying that the waitlist acceptances come in “waves” every three days. Not sure if this is actually true.
All I know is that I need to know ASAP.
