UCSD WAITLIST 2021

So I got waitlisted and this is my top choice. Environmental studies major, what are the chances I get off I already applied to be on it but don’t wanna sabotage my chance to go to college by waiting and not hearing until after the date to accept/decline my other offers has passed. Does anyone have any stories and/or know how many people got off last year?

You must accept another offer by May 1st - do not sabotage yourself, it is expected of those placed on a wait list and not a violation to do so. From the UCSD link below:

"I was accepted by another college, but I really want to attend UC San Diego—should I decline the
other offer and opt in to the UC San Diego waitlist?
A: Being on the waitlist is not a guarantee of admission, so we strongly urge you to accept another
college’s admission offer before the appropriate deadline. don’t have stats on UCSD waitlist

Wait lists vary - at some schools virtually no one comes in, at others, some will. I would never count on getting moved from a wait list. Also, it can drag the process out to the point of it being maddening for you. (Feeling like you don’t know where you are going till June or July…ugh.) So move on for now, but you can still hope, just don’t plan everything around it.

Should probably change my screen name from Longwait2 to Excruciating2

even tho the ucsd website says not to send additional materials, should i still send an email to admissions? online it said it increases ur chances of getting in from the waitlist to show ur still interested…i’m planning to do it for cmu, but i dont wanna seem annoying to the ucsd admissions ppl.

@macaronisald: UCSD’s common dataset indicates an applicants level of interest is not considered so do not send anything more. You have opted into the waitlist so admissions knows you are serious applicant.

I got waitlisted too!! Have you heard anything about decisions being released?

Hi! What colleges did you end up SIR’ing to?
