Any idea if HS transcripts have to be sent straight to UCI (or other UC’s), or can they come to my home first? I went to four different HS’s so I gotta get this straight. Didn’t think it mattered.

@fullload - Official Always from the school, unofficial can come from you.

@fullload i actually spoke with an admissions counselor at UCSD over the phone and she told me as long as theyre sealed by your school (the school should put a sticker or something on the envelope to seal it) it’s fine if you mail it yourself.

Thanks guys. The thing is I was planning on having them sent now, but the application process doesn’t even begin until August, so if my HS transcripts arrived at UCLA and UCI neither college would even know what to do with them I assume since my application hasn’t been filed yet. Do they have some sort of holding system? Hope that makes sense.

@fullload Do not send your transcripts until you are admitted and they ask for them. On my admission instructions, it says that transcripts should be sent after May 1st and before their deadline. I would assume that any transcripts sent prior to May 1st are put in a “special” file cabinet that looks remarkably like a trash can. :)

knhofto is right. When you apply to the UCs, they EXPLICITLY tell you NOT to send ANY transcripts period until they ask for it in your admission contract, if you plan on SIRing to the school.

Ha Ha! @ I think you are right about the shape of the file cabinet. @fulload you do not send anything until you are accepted.

I was told by the admissions rep at UCSD that the reason they require it is to ensure you took American History, That is the only reason. Ironically that is the only class I received an A in in HS…

@fullload It depends on the UC. UCLA doesn’t require HS transcripts whatsoever. So if you get into UCLA, you’ll be fine. Some schools like UCSD like to be a pain in the ass however.

@fullload - I thought you had already been admitted.

I agree with the other posters, until you are admitted and they are requested don’t send them because some ( MOST) UC’s don’t require them and they would likely be like why did he send this???
