UCSD accepted me as a transfer but still wants my HS transcripts. I went over to my old high school today and the woman there was clueless. She said they don't have access to graduated students files and to use docufide.com, I asked if that was the same as parchment and she said that it was not. Parchment is for their current students. I go home and check out docufide only to find it literally redirects to parchment. At this point I don't know what the right way forward is.

I also checked out the school districts website and it had some outdated links saying to use parchment somehow.

Hey so is this normal? I mean, I was in High School in 1991. Will UC’s want my HS info? I thought if I completed my IGETC and major prereqs (20 years later) I was all good. For what it’s worth, I dropped out of 12th grade and got my GED. Now I’m a little freaked.

Yea this is really silly that UCSD needs your high school transcript. Hopefully someone who already transferred can tell us if this is really necessary or not.

Thank goodness UCLA doesn’t ask for such trivial, meaningless information. What is your HS info got to do with your admission? Unless you used AP credits or a foreign language class, there’s really no need for us to provide them with that information.

It’s like giving the supermarket clerk the biopsy of our colonoscopy. Why on Earth would they need that? How is that in any shape or form related to shopping for groceries? Exactly. It’s the same exact scenario. UCI/UCSD has no business asking me for that type of information.

They might as well be asking for my k-6 transcript as well. I want to confront the guy who asks transfer students for their highschool information. Who is he to demand such information?

As for why I’m so angry? Well, wouldn’t you be? It’s another stupid loop that you have to jump through before spreading your cheeks and coughing up 12000-15000 dollars.

@k4201505 - That sounds about right, because you don’t necessarily need to have been a HS graduate to transfer from a CCC to a UC.

But I believe (don’t quote me on this lol) that if you have completed IGETC and certified it you are not required or asked to send in HS transcripts as a transfer.

Because on my UCSB portal it says either one or the other is required by July 15th: High school Transcripts or Full IGETC Certification.

So does a UC require HS transcripts if you are a transfer student who has finished IGETC and major prereqs by the Spring deadline? If so, is a GED acceptable? Just a little confused still and there seems to be some differing opinions on this all of a sudden. I’m 20 years out of HS and dropped out of 12th grade to get my GED. Just hoping UCLA isn’t going to have a problem with this? I have a 3.9 and will be in TAP.

@fullload - I’m sure a GED is fine- they know people take different routes. UCLA doesn’t require HS transcripts though. I know San Diego, Irvine, and I think Cal do. I don’t know about he others.
