Hi! I'm new at this forum, so I'm not really sure how this works... I've wanted to go to UCSD since I was an itty-bitty freshman, so can someone please tell me my chances/what I could do to improve my chances? (By the way, I'm a junoir, soon to be senior, right now)

UC gpa: 4.0 unweighted/4.2-ish weighted (assuming I get A's 2nd semester junoir year)
SAT I: 2040 (720 math/660 CR/660 writing); I retook these last week so I hope I get a higher score
SAT II: 760 MathIIC, 700 Bio, planning on taking US history in October
ACT: 30 composite (34 math/34 writing/27 reading/26 science/9 essay) I'm retaking it this Saturday and praying I do better in reading and science

My ECs aren't that great:
volunteer: local school (9,10), Red Cross (11, 12) 200+ hours
fencing (9-12)-nothing spectacular, a couple of 3rd places here and there..
Sec/Treasurer of my school's math/science club junoir year, Co-president senior year (9-12)
I'm also involved in a club that helps a telescope do their space runs (9-12)
Bridge (the card game-can this even be considered an EC?) since 7th grade

I don't believe my school will help-it's a private school that doesn't rank (only does it by quartiles, but if it counts, I'm almost positive I'm in the top 25%)

I was also wondering, I have two sisters who both have epilepsy. Could this be a personal challenge? It HAS affected my family life, but I don't have it personally..

I'm an first generation asian american (but not first generation college attendance) and I can claim Filipino or Malaysian. Does it even matter?

Sorry this was so long. Any feedback on my chances at UCSD (or any UC for that matter!) will be appreciated! Thanks!

Why have you dreamed of going to UCSD? People at my school says lots of the students there are druggies. Anyways, you can do better than UCSD with your GPA. Just raise your SAT score up a bit and you can get into UCLA. Also, I think you'll need better ECs, bridge is not considered an EC but why don't you start a club for card games or something?

this is really late.. but I wanna go to UCSD because the campus is BEAUTIFUL. I haven't heard about druggies and such, but I've heard UCSD can either be a party school or a major nerd school. UCSD is only about 2 1/2 hours from my where I live, so it's far enough that my parents can't visit me every weekend, but close enough that I can go home in case of an emergy. Since I live in CA, UCSD would be one of the cheapest schools I could go to (which is always a good thing), and I really don't think my chances at UCLA and Cal are that great. UCSD has great academics (it's behind UCLA and Cal, but above the other UCs), which I suppose is the main reason for going to any college...

lol, students at ucsd druggies? you must be joking. It is probably the campus with the least drugs and alchohol. I was an undergrad at ucsd, trust me on this one.

Being an undergraduate at the school probably gives you a biased opinion. Anyways, I'm just saying what I heard and if you really like UCSD then go for it.

if you search online, you can find the calculation table for ucsd. it tells you how many points each item is worth. You need roughly 8000 points to be accepted and an example is they take 1150 X your GPA and then your SAT score + SATII scores and then a bunch of other junk like "major hardship in family +500pts". According to your profile, you are an autoaccept. they won't even read your essays. why don't you shoot for UCLA? its by no means a reach.
