Hey! I applied to UF for Fall 2013 as a freshman with an AA (through Dual Enrollment). When admissions decisions came out last week, I got this message:

"As a prospective student receiving your AA degree or 60 credits in addition to your high school diploma, we will be reviewing your college GPA, and the completion of prerequisite courses for your major, along with other pertinent information for transfer admission. Your major is very important in the transfer review process. Please contact the Office of Admissions immediately if you need to add or change your major.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to evaluate your college-level coursework."

When I contacted UF about this they explained that I am being evaluted as a transfer student for my major (English). I have all the GPA (3.9) and credit hour requirements, but when I looked at the English prereqs, I realized I am ONE course short (talk about frustrating). Anyway, does anyone know how I could get this one last english class? Or if UF may let it slide? My only thought so far is to take it over the summer, but I don't know how UF would react to that. I really don't want to reapply and wait even longer for a decision.

UF would certainly be fine with you finishing your prerequisite over the summer if you are admissible to that major in every other way. Look into seeing which class youa re going to take and where and then let UF know.

I am in the same boat as you as far as being dual enrolled, receiving an AA in May and still having to wait for a decision. When you called, did they give you any kind of timeline in which we can expect decisions?

Taylor K- When I contacted UF they said that they needed my fall college transcripts, so I’m sure that wil delay my decision some. I have read elsewhere that freshman AA applicants should be hearing back sometime this week or next regarding their application status. Depending on what your major is and college is reviewing your app it could take longer. I asked about a date to expect a decision and UF has pretty much just said wait around and eventually we’ll let you know.

Yeah, that’s pretty much the same response I got when I called. She transfered me to CLAS, but of course I had to just leave a message. I’m hoping we have priority over other transfer students. And why did you send fall transcripts? Did they say you needed to?

The ISIS page on UF Admissions where you see your status (or lack thereof) changed for me today to a page saying they were recieving my transfer app and I needed to send fall transcripts for my college. What major are you applying to? A UF counselor said that it can be beneficial to contact the person in charge of your major, which is available on their website.

I applied for criminology in the college of liberal arts and sciences. How do you know who exactly to contact? Just call and asked to be tranferred or is there a website with a direct number?

I found a direct email to the English department online at [College of Liberal Arts and Sciences | The University of Florida](http://www.clas.ufl.edu/)
Calling would probably also be a good option. If they don’t have specific information, then just contacting UF transfer admissions worked well for me. Right now it just looks like I’m waiting, and waiting is the hardest part.

Do you have all the pre-reqs listed for your major completed? That’s where I ran into an issue. If you do, then it should be smooth sailing.

Yes, luckily I contacted them about prereqs during my sophomore year and completed all the needed courses. I will definitely look for an email though. Did they actually respond righht away to an email? I feel like no colleges respond to emails.

Yeah, they were actually really quick in responding! I was impressed. The trouble is trying to explain the situation and getting someone who knows the answer. The first person I emailed forwarded my email to the director of admissions who was able to help me today.

Che,
Sorry for jumping in on this post, but my son is going through a similar situation. He has been trying to find out who it is he should be talking to in the English dept. since the decisions came out. He tried a Dr. Murchek but he told him that he wasn’t who he should be speaking to and to try CLAS Academic advising. So far he hasn’t heard back from them.
Could you please give me the name of the director of Admissions that your email was forwarded to? This way he could send him/her an email to see if they could help with his situation also. I would really appreciate.

I contacted Melissa Sisk, she was very helpful with letting me know what I needed to send in and what to expect regarding transfer admission. Hope this helps.

For those of you still waiting for a decision, did you guys apply as a transfer student? I am also doing dual enrollment and will have my AA degree, but I applied as a freshman still, and I was notified when everyone else did about getting accepted. Reading what you said about having to finish a class or two for your major makes me worried that I should have to do the same thing also? But my acceptance letter didn’t say the same thing yours did…

abby - sounds like you were admitted as a freshman. Your condition would be to maintain the course are far as what you are enrolled in and the grades you earn. HS/AA students admitted as transfer students have specific requirements that need to be met.

So I don’t need to worry about taking any extra classes or anything? Is my status as a freshman going to change when I actually get there since I will have my AA degree? this is all so confusing, haha.
