Discodrew, what kinda of gpa did they start with for the applicant pool for your major?

nautilus, I’m sorry, but I’m not quite sure what you’re asking me.

Haha, sorry I honestly wasn’t even sure how to phrase it, but for instance I applied to Family, Youth, and Community Sciences in CALS which considers applicants with GPAs beginning at a 2.0. I as well have a 3.3 and am hoping to get in for fall. I was hoping to see what applicant GPA your major considered?

I think University-wide it’s 2.0 minimum for your basic GPA. Your specific college (ie CALS, CLAS, etc.) is only allowed to determine the minimum GPA for the prereq courses (pre-prof GPA).

That’s my understanding anyway. I know PoliSci majors are required to have a 3.0 pre-prof.

Besides university wide transfer requirements, the philosophy department recommended I take at least two philosophy courses at my CC and earn a B or higher. That was the only requirement I remember from the philosophy website. I don’t recall any specific requirements in regards to GPA.

congratulations discodrew…

they system is down again. more people will be waking up with answers. with the waiting, I’ve actually put fsu above uf in schools i’d rather transfer to, so I’m not really worried about the decision. just interested to see if i’m “gator material” hahahaha (never thought I’d be saying that)

If anyone else has applied for Political Science, Fall 2010 let me know.

My major is political science and gpa is 3.55 overall, 4.0 in reqs… Fall 2010

Congratulations!!! Your application to the University of Florida for the Fall 2010 term has been approved!

Official notification will arrive by mail, including the conditions of your admission as well as important orientation and immunization information.

We look forward to seeing you on campus soon, and welcome you to the Gator Nation!

Congratulations!

When did you get your decision?

And just out of curiosity, how many serfvice hours if any did you have on your transcript?

I knew yesterday, I didn’t have any hours… But I have spent almost two years living in Europe and Asia and explained how that has changed my world view etc etc. So I think that put me in a good position, esp when you consider the major.

When did you apply?

Dec 2009, I still don’t know for sure if I am going to UF though. I might end up going to FSU… depending on whether or not a few other people get in. But their gpa is even higher than mine so more than likely I will be heading to UF.

Well if you decide to go to FSU instead, please inform UF that you won’t be accepting their offer of admission. That way they can accept more people who might be interested.

Whatever you decide, congratulations again on your accomplishment!

Thanks SeanCris, I am sure you will also get in.

Thanks, free. I hope so. It’s good to know the stats of someone else who got in to PoliSci, I feel pretty good about my chances now.

Does anyone know why we can’t check our admission status at night? For the past few days when I try to check my admission status at night (10PM-2AM+), the status checking site has been down.

I heard someone say that this means that decisions could be coming, but I can’t imagine that someone is at UF right now at 1:30 AM publishing decisions. Maybe they just take the site off-line at night for maintenance?

you’re buggin man.

lol yeah sorry man it’s been a stressful week all around. I’m always up late though, is it that wierd to check my status at 1:30? =P

They’re doing it again. It was down at 8:00. Who knows why. -_-

congratulations freetv! I wish they would let me know. I sent my application in AUGUST 2009. 4.0 overall, 4.0 pre-req, bio major for CALS. System is down now, hopefully they’ll put it back up with a decision.

^my money says you’re getting in.
