UF Accepted / Rejected / Waiting 2010 (Transfer)

Looking over last year’s thread, people were talking about a “letter of intent.” Did anyone get one of these this year?

CLAS has put a freeze on my application, while they wait for admissions to forward them a letter that I had sent months ago from my CC Registrar concerning prereqs that weren’t offered at my CC.

Admissions never forwarded this letter to CLAS like they were supposed to. If I hadn’t called to double check that CLAS had the letter, I’d be recieving a rejection notice sometime soon.

***If you had to send a letter from your registrar about prereq courses, I STRONGLY recommend calling your college (ie CLAS, CALS, etc.) and asking if they have that letter. If admissions messed up and forgot to forward it, you will be rejected unless you make sure your college gets it.

hi… i am a high school senior that will be graduating with a AA. however, i applied as a first time freshman. but i guess i didnt make the 1st cut so they transfered me to the nursing college and they will be making my decision. but im worried because its been a month and they havent said anything. i still have 3 classes to finsh my pre classes. everytime i call they just tell me to wait until they have a decision.

I don’t know if the rules are different for advanced freshman (freshmen with AA’s), but for staight transfers the rule is that you must have completed your prereqs before the term you have applied for (Fall 2010), UNLESS your colllege doesn’t offer the prereq courses in which case you have to have the college Registrar send a letter to UF telling them that the college doesn’t offer the prereqs. Otherwise you’ll be rejected regardless of GPA, etc.

Like I said, I don’t know about advanced freshman, but for pure transfers like me I know that’s how it works.

And about the the waiting thing… they’ll get back to us eventually. I’m with you, I want them to tell me yesterday but that’s just not how it works.

Angel dancer…it’s nothing to worry over. The reason they submitted the application over to nursing is your application has been moved with the transfer students. They made you apply with the freshman because you still had not graduated and you can’t really attend college until summer b at the least. They have to make sure you graduate on time and that you are ready for college. It also is because UF admissions just wanted less work for themselves so they stuffed you with freshman…

I was told that CLAS is wrapping up summer applications and will really start on Fall applications this week.

Hopefully we get some decisions soon. I’m still skeptical about decisions coming out earlier this year, but apparently some people have already gotten decisions for Fall from CLAS so that’s something that didn’t happen last year. We’ll see. I’m prepared to wait and be constantly stressed out for at least six weeks. :P

And if you’ve applied to UF PoliSci, send me a PM. Might as well have somebody to write who’s waiting on the same thing you are.

that’s good news. i hope that was a reliable source. still haven’t heard from fsu or uf yet, and spring break has already passed.

It was the admissions secretary from CLAS. I’ve also heard from an advisor in class that decisions will be out by mid to late April.

These things aren’t necessarily contradictory, though. We may sporadically get decisions between now and late April.

Hope for the best, be ready for the worst.

thanks for the info… i think im going to call again and ask…

do they update the status every friday at 5?

“do they update the status every friday at 5?”

Not really. It can be at any time during any weekday, from what I understand. Basically if you try to log on and it says “function is not available at this time,” I think it means that they are publishing decisions. Sometimes this happens at night and people wake up with decisions.

i just opened my letter 5 minutes ago and i got in! the letter was dated 3/8 and postmarked 3/12 if anyone cares.

well here are my stats:
aerospace engineering major
3.6 gpa
AA in may
1240/1600 SAT

oh yeah and my gatorlink still hasn’t changed…

Congrats, b3!

Did you apply for the Fall semester? And what college houses aerospace engineering?

thanks! and yes, it is the fall semester, and aerospace engineering is housed in the college of engineering :-)

Congrats again, b3.

On a random note, dealing with admissions is a pain. I’ve been chasing around a piece of paper trying to get it from admissions to CLAS for over a week. They promise to fax it immediately, I even give them the number of the person waiting to recieve it, and for a week several admissions reps have been unable to operate the fax machine to get this piece of paper to CLAS so that they can lift the freeze (ie no decision) on my application. What gives?

If this goes on for another week I will have to get a new letter and drive 500 miles to Gainesville and back to make sure CLAS recieves what admissions should have forwarded months ago.

/rant

Sean, my friend is also waiting on them to update her paper transcripts (they received them over two weeks ago), and today they said it might be another week. She is considering just driving the two hours and handing them in person, to make sure without a doubt they have them. Oh, and FSU says I must complete stats before they will approve my application. Lol, get approved by UF but have to wait on FSU, pretty funny.

That is funny. And like I said, I’m considering exactly what your friend is. Mine is just a letter, fortunately, so I think I may be able to get it from my cc Registrar and fax it over to the specific person at UF who needs it and save the time/expense of driving to Gainesville and back.

You’re so lucky you got in already without all this nonsense. =P

STATS
CC Transfer
GPA: 3.88
Pre-Prof: 4.0

This waiting is agonizing so I thought maybe this message board would help with passing the time, and it helps knowing I am not alone in the waiting game!

freetv, I also had a similar situation with FSU where they said they could not further process my application because I had not completed my foreign language, even though I explained that I was in the process of completing it and would have it done by my graduation date. It’s frustrating because although UF is my first choice it would be nice to know I got into my backups, for FSU technically I would not know until May because they said that to be accepted or to further process my app they would need my next updated transcript which obv. would not be available till may.

@ pixie, what’s your major?

Originally it was english but I had a lot of issues with advisors (from UF and my CC) telling me different requirements for the major so I had to switch it to Criminology.

I actually considered criminology for that reason as well. I decided to stick with Political Science and I’m dealing with the requirement issue right now, unfortunately. Hopefully it will all be ironed out by this time tomorrow. =/
