My girlfriend just recieved an email today that UF did not recieve her SAT scores although she did send them through college board, no I know UF is very busy this week and will be next so it is almost pointless to argue yet she is a very good student in the IB program with a 4.7 weighted gpa and 2000 SAT I'm wondering if being reevaluated in March will decrease her chances as many spot may already be filled. Please help shes freaking out

Please someone

Yes, her chances are much less, if she doesn’t get in via the normal application (unless she has grounds for an appeal). Did she ever check her application status?

On the left hand side, you should see the “Check your status at UF” button. It’s too late now, as the site is down for freshman, until Feb 14th. It would have stated if UF had received her SAT scores (and a completed application, and SAR).

On the college board website, you can see which colleges should have received her scores (“My Send Score History”) and on what date it was sent. If it was sent, you may have grounds for an appeal (though it was her responsibility to confirm UF received all information).

Worse case scenario, and she doesn’t get accepted, she does have other options. Everything from taking a “gap year” to going to CC (maybe in Gainesville) and then transferring as a Junior to UF. With her stats, if she had applied to the other state schools (like UNF or UCF), I’m sure she would have been accepted and offered a nice merit scholarship.

Good Luck!

Do you think with her credentials she still has a good shot?

If she doesn’t “win” an appeal, then she will receive a decision on a space-available basis only. I don’t know how many get in through this process, but I would think it’s less than a hundred applicants. If the yield (the % of students who accept UF’s offer and enroll) is higher than expected, then no space is available and no one gets in.

At this point, her credentials are not the issue, it’s space being available. If space is available, her grades would make her very competitive for one of the few slots.

O gosh thank you
