Hello, I am considering UF PaCE CALS (possibly Plant Science) and I have not been able to hear any response from any CALS PaCE Students although I have been talking to CALS Advisors for PaCE. They said I’d be taking my sciences at Santa Fe like a Transfer student almost.
I really wish I could hear feedback from them as I haven’t seen any really posted in any of the PaCE informationals…
Things about me: I would move to Gville for sure and buy the Optional Package to be able to become involved, if I decide to go to UF. I would enter with about 10 AP credits and possibly almost 45 IB credits if UF decides to still allow them with Corona cancelling M20 exams but I’ve still completed the I.A.s that was a part of that grade given at the end. I’ve never had total online classes before and I would like to say I am a pretty self motivated student.
I’m not sure exactly what I want to major in but I want to work for the USDA eventually and I’ve learned environmental engineering is more desirable among employers. I am considering minoring in something too boost myself in addition to my major.
Although I had my heart set on UF and the many majors they offered via general admission, the limited amount via PaCE and being able to switch and still graduate in 4 years makes this option iffy for me. I want to go to grad school, but I’m afraid if I choose PaCE or Plant Sci I’m downgrading since the majors don’t appear to be as challenging (although with all respect they might be, I have no idea) and I’ve taken rigorous courses throughout my entire school career to take a major that doesn’t provide a mainstream set career or defined as a “Top Major for Wealthy Jobs”.
I was blinded by the glitz of UF and their strong CALS program (I’ve been in love with for the past 5 years) when touring other schools… I’m considering FSU (this is hard) with their many majors (outside of Ag/CALS like nursing or health admin) and especially with their FSU-FAMU Engineering Program (although I am currently trying to figure out if it is a reputable school or not since I haven’t heard any hype about it) and UCF’s STEM Compass program.
If you are a current PaCE Student please let me know what your ups and downs experience with this program has truly been like! Thank you in advance.
