Essay: Obviously, as you can see above my grades aren’t UF esque but that’s because during the course of high school I lost my dog, my sister was diagnosed with cancer and my friend passed from Douglas.
Have you done the UF GPA recalculation, where you only include your academic classes and give a 1 point bump for AP and .5 for honors? That will help folks give you a more realistic assessment?
How can I do the GPA recalculation??
Compute your gpa only counting your academic classes in science, math, English, social studies, and foreign language. Not Art, journalism or office aide, for example. All AP and DE classes count. Add .5 for honors and 1 point bump for AP / DE. It’s often about halfway between your high school unweighted and weighted.
Sorry to hear about your sister and your friend. From a gpa and test score perspective, UF is a reach. Guessing your recalculated is about 3.75. You have some interesting ECs and shown commitment for several years which is a plus. UF admissions are holistic so one never knows for sure. Make sure you have a good safety.
Might want to look at the Innovation Academy if you really want UF.
