UF chances for a low GPA with a good story

I wanted to approach my chances specifically toward University of Florida. I'm kind of a special case, so I hope you can bear with me.

I'm a Microsoft certified professional with a good resume of tech support and even leadership positions in the field since highschool.

My highschool record holds a 3.117 GPA.

I never took the SAT, ACT, or SAT II.

Currently I'm preparing myself heavily (21 hrs a week) for the SAT to get as near to a perfect score as I can.

I want to be a gator.

I live on my own, financially take care of my mother, and toss some money to my father (who's doing badly in a rough economy) every now and again. my parents are divorced but in FL.

My guardian, who was not either of my parents (my mother is psychologically ill and living in a nursing home), was my grandmother, mother's side, who passed away in January of this year and left me sort of alone in the world to fiend for myself. Thankfully I've done Ok for myself (I have a 34k a year job with chance for promotion according to my boss) and hope to some day, God willing, go to a T-14 law school.

Please be brutally honest with me. If I got great scores on the SAT & ACT then applied to be a gator at UF, would I have a chance? The closest I have to an EC is my success as a technical analyst. My story is what keeps me going, and hopefully that's a good reason to be let in.

I would prefer not to go to a CC to transfer later. I simply want to know my chances as they are in the hypathetical sense of great standardized test scores.

“I would prefer not to go to a CC to transfer later.”

Please just do this. There’s nothing wrong with having that on your resume whatsoever.

Oh and I missed the part where you said what grade you were in. I think you’re SOL if you’re a senior.

edit: I just read from your other post that you’re 25. Taking the SAT will be pretty pointless, and again, it’s much better to just go to CC and transfer in your situation.

I’m starting to think this, too.

To clarify, though, the idea was UF then transfer to a possibly better school later, but i’m thinking now maybe UF is a good school for going to a T-14 law school later.

The standardized tests are for the ability to transfer from a CC, later, or to transfer from UF to a better school after that. That was the idea, anyways. Now i’m starting to think it would be better with the CC route, where i can study on my own and take the enterance exam and based on good score get a very honorable courseload that would be difficult and worthwhile.
