Yea. I’ve been thinking seriously about colleges since sixth grade. I remember researching “UF acceptance rate” when I was in eighth grade like two hours a day. I feel like it’s too late now so I think it kind of funny that you said it’s early, many people think tis too early but I don’t understand. I think that college preparation should happen early really, I know people who got into Duke who started prepping for the SAT as early as third-fifth grade.
It’s AWESOME you are preparing yourself and thinking ahead.
But it takes a lot to get into many schools - including UF. My point is - you can’t just wish an A. You just can’t wish a 32 or 34 on the ACT.
So it’s great you are aspiring. It’s great you have goals and targets and hopefully you will have a plan to reach them. But they don’t just happen.
Two other quick thoughts:
Don’t fall in love with any school - because while in Florida you all get great tuition, many fall in love with one school but end up at another for finances or other reasons - so don’t get emotionally attached.
Everyone on the CC is jazzed to go to Harvard or Duke, etc. and that’s great. But guess what, when they graduate, they’re going to work for someone who went to Columbus State or like me Alabama State or Ramapo - so you can and will do fine because of you.
In the meantime, find something else to obsess about. The process is challenging enough and you are very early.
It’s awesome you are building a list and learning what you need to do. It’s awesome to have a plan to do it.
But asking is class rank at top 5% ok - you are over obsessing. Take a rigorous, yet achievable and enjoyable schedule - and the rest will take care of itself.
