UF Class of 2022 Discussion Page

Denied. Disappointed. In state. Life long Gator family. 34 - ACT (not super scored) 3.8 - GPA, 3 varsity sports, many extracurriculars, activities, honors. Accepted to several other good schools in the including scholarship $$$ Shocked but moving on. No more donations to UF.

I was rejected last year with an act of 32, several AP,s and dual enrollment calculas. 4.85 gpa and unweighted core 3.8. Student ambassador, tech ambassador, several honor societies, track captain and placed in states. Had a steady job for 2 years. I watched as my peers with lower everything got in. I even graduated in top 10 percent and was waitlisted for an Ivy League. My parents called UF and they said we are looking for diversity. Being white didn’t help , my friend accepted into Harvard and decided to go to UM on a full ride. He was rejected from UF , he is white. I’m not sure if that’s what UF meant when they said diversity but I’m completely happy that I didn’t go there. I received a very nice scholarship where I am now.

Good info; yes; DS accepted to FSU and UCF with scholarship and honors, but likes UF and PACE!

Accepted through PACE
4.4 W GPA
3.6 UW GPA
1300 SAT

Congrats to everyone accepted!! UF seems to be a lottery with people I know being accepted with low scores ( I’m talking about 1100 on SAT ), either way everyone accepted deserves it. I will be attending FSU

when do scholarships come out?

My son was accepted OOS, 3.96, 1400, Eagle Scout, NHS President,

Also accepted at UW-Madison, Miami, Ohio State and Penn State

I’m shocked 33 ACT didn’t make it in. I’m so sorry. What on your resume you think hurt? There has to be some issue too many 31 ACTs got in.
@F6FHellcat

I got my innovation academy acceptance today when I checked my application status but im confused… does that mean i cant go in fall 2018 to take normal class???

Curious to all those shocked to get rejected. Are you minority? Non legacy? OOS? Trying to see if any common elements.

My daughter was offered Gator Engineering at Santa Fe. We knew summer/fall was a reach but happy she has this path to be a Gator. Accepted at FSU, UNF, UCF, USF (scholarship) and FGCU (scholarship) but may end up in G’Ville…

I do believe her strong overall application helped her get this option. Also, choice of major did matter.

Crazy competitive.

Unweighted GPA: 3.5
UF recalculated GPA: 3.94
SAT: 1270
State Of Residence: Florida

AP’s: World History, Environmental Science, Human Geography, Psychology, Language and Composition, Computer Science, Calculus, Literature

EC: Girl Scout Gold Award, project was 80+ hours, including creating an elementary school lesson plan on healthy eating and presenting the course to about 200 kids. Also built a website to sustain the project. She spent 10 years in Girl Scouts. She’s also in other organizations like NHS and the future educators with another 100+ hours.

Volunteering- More than 350 hours at a university affiliated pre-school for kids with and without special needs. Volunteered during three consecutive high school summers.

Awards: Silver Knight nominee (big deal here) and numerous for her community service including some high profile honors.

Got into PACE… Thanks but no Thanks… Online University at UF? Not happening!

Accepted Summer B. GPA 4.6, SAT 1410, also Case Western and U Mich.

I was also accepted into the PACE program as well which looks no different than doing one of those University of Phoenix online programs. Pretty pointless. It looks like UF is looking to squeeze as much money as possible by creating this program. I just cant digest the idea that someone is applying to the University of Florida in order to get into this program. Maybe somebody from overseas. Otherwise, this feels more like a flat out rejection. With excellent options at Ohio State, (more than likely attending) UGA , FSU. among others, I am not dejected.

Congrats to all of you who got in.

I can confirm that students enrolling in the Gator Engineering @ SF and Gator Design & Construction @ SF programs this summer B and fall will be able to live on campus at UF. UF Housing has a limited number of beds available for students in these programs, so be sure to send in your Housing deposits quickly. Congratulations to those who have been admitted to these limited access programs!

@CollegeParent222: Sorry to hear about the denial. if your child is set on graduating from UF, consider starting at Santa Fe College - UF’s #1 feeder school. Santa Fe College was ranked the #1 community college in the nation by the Aspen Institute in 2015, and has a wonderful track record for helping students get into - and graduate from - UF. Great news about housing @SantaFeAVP !

Innovation Academy students start in the summer. They don’t take classes on campus in the Fall (I think they can do online though) and they can still participate in everything else such as extracurriculars. They then take classes in the spring. So Fall is the only semester where they cannot take classes directly on campus.
