UF Class of 2022 Discussion Page

@Trixiet Thanks, that makes sense. Like I said, the rumor mill in the hallways is going strong.

We have no email regarding a record number of applicants. All we have is an email telling us to check and ensure we can access the portal. We also have an email confirming our deposit for housing. That’s it. Idk. This it the LONGEST DAY EVER.

The only email DD has received from UF came yesterday. It simply said decisions would be released today after 6pm est, check your access to the check status portal using your Coalition App credentials to see if it works properly, UF does not have access to your Coalition credentials so if you lost them they can’t help you. Only accepted applicants will receive written communication and check out the admissions blog for further tips http://www.admissions.ufl.edu/blog/

No email here :(. However, when I go to log on to check status, there is a new login box that says “Freshman - Go to Decision Page”

@CrazyDad9 - you’re right it was the Tips for Admission Day. Yesterday D was trying to decipher why she got an email telling her to be sure you can login. I was like uh, maybe they want you to be able to login? The pressure is starting to get to everyone.

@Trixet I figured. I can’t wait for this to be over. “The waiting is the hardest part”, a famous Gator once sang.

People are definitely panicking. I saw one thread where names disappeared from the portal (not sure they were ever there?) and another that said if you didn’t visit the school and show interest (likes on FB etc.) you would decrease your chances. I’m over here like, holy cow. Maybe it isn’t worth it. Hahaha.

@Trixiet “Don’t let it kill you, babe, don’t let it get to you.”

I think I’m going to take my own advice and beg off until tonight. Best of luck to everyone. I will post my daughter’s decision and her stats tonight. I wish you tears of joy tonight. Go Gators!

Just to kill some more time and strike a positive note, what do you all think about my kids back up plan being FSU. Now I realize obviously that we all wouldn’t be on this message board if we all didn’t want our kids to be Gators but the thought occurs to me as I see how insane the standards have become for admission that perhaps for a kid looking ahead to probably applying to Law school that he may be better off trying to get a high GPA at FSU then competing with all the SuperKids (6.0 GPA/ 36ACT/ 1000 hrs community service/ Nobel Peace Prize, etc) that UF admits.

Sour Grapes I know, but maybe a little truth. Who knows? By the way is it 6 yet??

@CrazyDad9 Hahaha. I’ve been thinking the same thing. I’m like, is it really worth all of this? My son has lots of options (FSU being one) so it isn’t the end of the world, though it may feel like it tonight. I can’t even focus on work right now.

I hear you @CrazyDad9. We are out of state in PA. My son got a 1440 on his SATs, 4.7 recalculated UF gpa. Four Honor Societies, great essay according to a friend’s father who is an English professor at a large university in Philadelphia. Nice ECs. 100 Volunteer hours. Toured the campus in April. Etc etc. Is it enough? We’ll know soon. Good luck everyone!

These emails people are receiving - my son has received no such emails. He has received emails in the past for confirming payments, etc. Now, I’m freaking out.

Parman37, we have received no such email either. No housing payment has been sent so no emails there either. Little nervous now too…

It’s tough for all, my son got into USF and FSU, he had great interest in UF until he toured FSU. He got some $$ from FSU and basically is leaning strongly that way, unless UF offers more…I’ve heard they don’t really offer anything unless your scores of off the chart.

Re: the email entitled, Reminder-UF Decision Notification - That was sent out by the Coalition and not by UF.

@CrazyDad9 I think your sons FSU back up plan is no back up, but a lateral choice (but maybe I am just saying that cuz DD is sitting on her FSU acceptance too!)

According our our Naviance the stats stack up like this:
FSU ACT Combined 25 - 29

UF ACT Combined 26 - 31

In my book there is not a whole heck of a lot of difference between those two ranges. It does not seem to me that UF is full of super stellar smarty pants and the rest of the schmucks go to FSU. We are not from Florida, but we are from Texas and I assume the UF/FSU thing is indentical to the UT/Texas A&M thing. DD was CAPPED at UT but a full admit at A&M. I know in the end she (and your kid too!) has some awesome choices and no matter where she ends up, ultimately she is going to be surrounded by smart kids, at a great school, doing great things; whether it is the gator chomp, tomahawk chop, Gig’Em or Hook 'em Horns!

@labegg I think it depends on your major.

@Parman37 that email: Reminder-UF Decision Notification came from UF for DD. The sender is freshman@ufl.edu and reads
